Danish-Honduran house pop marvel Julie Pavon shares no-nonsense house anthem

The young artist has teamed up with house music dignitary Musumeci to produce the track, which is the second single from her forthcoming album on Music For Dreams.
 
‘Can’t Stop Crying’ gets straight to business with a classic rave-inspired breakbeat rigged with a hard-headed synth groove and piercing string stabs. The track’s cynical, metallic vibe combines with the brazen sentimentality of Pavon’s vocals, forming a sense of anguishing romance, a lone heart beating out against the hollow night.
 
This ambivalent mood of the track echoes Pavon’s ambition of capturing emotional contrasts and dualities with her music. As she says, the most interesting things in life have both an exhilarating and distressing effect.
 
Still yet to release her first full-length album, Julie Pavon has impressed critics and audiences alike with her “combustible blend of impassioned lyrics and club-geared beats” (DJ Mag). She has been compared to artists such as Charlotte Adigéry and Kelly Lee Owens, while being touted as “the nation’s fiercest live performer” by Danish critics (Soundvenue).
 
Her previous singles, released over the past few years, include the house-pop banger ‘Lost Child’ and the underground disco-house enigma ‘Don’t Call Me Out’, both of which were named track of the week by Danish radio (DR P3). In 2023, Pavon released the EP Watch Her Dance, adding to her boisterous dancefloor output a more introverted, brooding expression (‘Hey Sister’, ‘Watch Her Dance’).

This Soft Machine (aka Tim Sullivan) returns to Eskimo Recordings with a highly charged slice of psychedelictinged modern disco, with remixes from Japanese artist https://soundcloud.com/chida73 and USA born https://soundcloud.com/avalonemerson. Created entirely by Tim and his band using analogue equipment, ‘It’s Operational’ follows on from last year’s double sided release ‘On & On / This Place Was Meant For Me.’

An irresistible fusion of disco, house and and chiming nu Balearic pop ’It’s Operational ’ is sure to place http://soundcloud.com/thissoftmachine firmly back within the contemporary dance music scene, with music that “consists solely of sounds recorded by human hands”. His previous release on Eskimo was met with high acclaim, with the accompanying video premiering on FACT magazine and the past year saw him supporting Carl Craig, DARKSIDE, Tim Sweeney, Flight Facilities and Chris Liebing on stage.

Tim met CHIDA after moving to Tokyo in 2009, describing the Japanese pioneer as “a guy with a huge smile and a great music knowledge to match”. He speeds things up with his cut, delivering an impressive, theatrical remix. CHIDA has been repping the Tokyo underground music scene for over twenty years and is founder of the much hyped label Ene.

Creating a darker and unyielding remix, Avalon Emerson was recently described as one of the “new leading ladies in underground dance ”. Avalon originally fed her appetite to DJ in the San Francisco party scene. Now  based in Berlin she has played alongside Erol Alkan and Fort Romeau.
