I feel like inspiration comes at the weirdest times in my life.
 
There’s a popular notion that art comes from dark places, but I honestly have no idea where this song comes from. I’m in one of the best mental states I’ve ever been in. It took a lot of time and healing to start thinking this positively.

Naturally, I still do experience seemingly random bouts of fear, anxiety, and loneliness. Feelings that can sometimes make me feel hopeless. It’s possible that they affect me more deeply than I realize.

Hollowing is about the process of becoming a ghost—a human being with feelings and aspirations that, for no clear reason, starts to slowly wear down to a husk, doomed to wander aimlessly, searching for purpose. It’s not a pleasant journey.

This might be one of the saddest songs I’ve ever written. It’s agonizingly visceral, unrelentingly aching, and far from pretty. Sit back and close your eyes. This story has a tragic ending.
