A tough job to remix Sandhog’s latest weapons, but Exploited Club have picked two consummate producers to do an excellent job.
Brazil’s Renato Cohen is a perfect match for ‘Accent’, bringing his new school electro/Italo touch to the proceedings. With a knowing nod to New Order’s monumental classic ‘Blue Monday’ in its snare fills and chord progression, his remix gets to work immediately with a snaking arpeggiated bassline weaving its way through and snappy drums, eventually unfolding into that familiar melody as bright pads glisten and live handclaps add an organic touch. Almost psychedelic touches of twanging FX deck out the outer edges of the track, and a manic siren-like synth blast ups the energy further. Funky percussion is drafted in with a touch of acid later on to keep things fresh, making this a hugely engaging remix throughout.
Fabrizio Mammarella does the damage on his version of ‘Nechama’. Teasing us slowly with ticking techno percussion that ebbs and flows, he gradually reveals the synth chords amidst giant snare hits and pulsing cymbal rides. A huge melodic acid line juts into view, taking us deeper into Mamarella’s futuristic groove, before the full fanfare of the colourful lead riff is unveiled in the breakdown—making for a truly explosive climax.

Organically grown from the game-changing event series garnering showcases and international takeovers from Berlin to Cape Town, Feinstoff has hosted some of the scene’s greats, such as Damon Jee, Terr, Biesmans and Yame. As a revered music platform and a trusted spearhead within Berlin’s electronic music scene, Feinstoff launches its own label.

Well-known for offering a plethora of authenticity, Feinstoff continues to deliver a significant edge on innovative electronic music and disco movements. This ethos is omnipresent in their first release, a collection of remixes for Romanian icon Alexandrina.

Curses' ever-powerful sonic presence and undeniable influence on the scene is felt greater by the day. He delivers a refreshing touch to his remix of ‘Black Magic’, with his signature baritone guitar and defined drums. In his dub version, more driving tension is added, along with a faster pace. Curses delivers yet another two gems dripping in his unmistakable arcane romanticism.

Greco—German powerhouse Local Suicide and Slow Motion Records affiliate Radondo join forces on their ethereal remix of ‘Animal Power’. Alexandria's vocals weave between twinkling arps and an ominous call and response between synthesized vocals. We’re transported to the dimly lit realms of their respective tastes.

Feinstoff label head Freudenthal snaps ‘Sirin’ into action with a euphoric reimagining of the original. Soaked in Feinstoff’s contemporary Nostalgia and subtle nods to post-punk, Freudenthal readies the remix for the Summer. The remixes all carry the thread of Feinstoff’s abundance of arpeggiated dance-floor magic.

Bucharest’s Walentin Pauer provides a melodic flip of ‘Sirin' with flashes of Electro and an almost C78-style drum pattern. With cosmic-style FX and washed-out hi-hats, we are led to a powerful dark wave payoff.

Borusiade transforms ‘Animal Power’ into an emotive, cinematic soundscape riding a gently oscillating arp, which builds to the wails and cries of Alexandrina’s climatic vocals from the original.

Rounding off the remix EP with conclusive flair is Mathmatrix’s mix for ‘Magnetic Eyes', a cathartic, anthemic piece weaving through flashes of alt-pop. The vocals sit beautifully within the mix's crushed edges, resulting in a breathtaking meeting of visions.

With a mantra to give Nostalgia a modern twist and provide an ever-effective launch pad for artists to expand their horizons, Feinstoff’s first release sets a strong tone for future releases and solidifies this vision.

The original I’m Wild, Oh I See was part of REPVII released in 2017. Remixed by Id!r and Theus Mago. They gave the track a more dancefloor orientated feel. The two Remixers met and became friends back in 2014 in Paris. This is a swift and thunderous collaboration between the two, made in Theus studio in Mexico City. Theus Mago is the alter ego of Mexican producer Mateo González.

Exclusive Cowboy Rhythmbox - 6AM Cowboy (Cowboy Rhythmbox Deviation Variation)

British “outsider-electronic duo“ Cowboy Rhythmbox return to Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound with a  none-existing musical approach up to date from the cowboys Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X themselves. As Detroit producer Sharif Laffrey took on remix duties for CR's 6AM Nathan and Richard remixed the remix of the track, expressing their appreciation of Sharif's work. The result of the remix remix, simply called Deviation Variation, falls into the category creative remarkableness. A lush yet bouncey bass line is equipped with sharp reverbing chords and blurry synths while partly implemented filter hi-hat rides and mono-alternating vocal-snippets are swaying from left to right. The remix reaches musical exellence once the disorted and echoing chord sequence makes its appearance adding a warm vitalness to the wild west Detroit-shooting.

Cowboy Rhythmbox's EP 6AM Cowboy is released on Phantasy Sound on April 10th, 2020.

Enduro Disco strikes back with another distinctively different slice of electronic joy for Exploited. A cute Bollywood-reminiscent female vocal sample provides the colourful centrepiece of ‘Ciao’, where filtered, sidechained orchestral strings pulse beneath saccharine synth melody and heady FX and percussion conversations. A lazy bass groove combines with the optimistic melodies to create a dreamy, summery feel that has the innocence of childhood about it. The track builds brilliantly through shimmering percussion and fizzing chords to the most blissed-out and chilled of crescendos.
Biesmans pushes the button marked ‘Full Italo’ and sets the feel-good dial to ‘11’ on his spunky remix, pitching wiggling bass arpeggios against triumphant chords, deft ‘80s drums and spine-tingling melody. Set in this context, the vocal becomes a triumphant battle cry, and the layer upon layer of gorgeous synth magic propels the track into fist-pumping, joyous echelons.
Johannes Albert goes into a deeper disco place, lacing the languid original with flecks of gentle acidic bubbling and playful melodies. Big snare hits add a little weight to the warmth of the melodic parts, all in all making for another perfect summer jam. Instrumentals are provided to use at your discretion.
