 Velax is a music producer from Surgut, Russia. He started making electronic music in 2014, experimenting under various pseudonyms for several years, during this time he manages to become famous in his country, but is still in search of his own style. After 6 years, he finds himself in Dark Disco.
His music sets cosmic & space atmospheres along dark elements that comes influenced by artists like Daft Punk, GusGus & Curses.

Ivan Fedorovski is one of the well known indie-dance producers and DJs in Eastern Europe.  Based in Minsk/Belarus, in 2014 Fedorovski enters as a producer on the top label Lou Lou Records and releases several dance hits and collaborations with Kolombo .

Today, in his productions he experiments with different genres of modern dance electronics,mixing elements from indie-dance , space/dark-disco ,synth wave ,adding various samples from rock , disco and world music.

Isn't it funny how time flies, yet so little has happened? Does this change our conversations from the exhilarating to the downright dull? A constant and predictable loop of "what have you been up to?" and the equally predictable response of "not much". Yet amidst the elongated slumps in front of the television and the all to frequent lie-ins past midday, creative juices have been overflowing from all corners of the globe, and the results continue to speak for themselves...

Berlin's Ombra International, the ever on point label run by Curses and Fritz Galliani, find themselves coming out the other side of lockdown armed with a variety snack pack of music from across the globe. Dubbed as "powerful music in the fringe of all things WAVE", Ombra's 15th release features contributions via Turkey, Mexico, Italy, France and Canada, from Günce Aci, ALF CHAMPION, Daniel Monaco & Futurist, Blaues Einhorn and Robert E. Livingood, respectively. Our pick, from Blaues Einhorn, the new project of FLVN and Mrs. Charlie Lumberjack recorded during a session in Paris, matches low slung moody guitar riffs with commanding vocals that fuse German and French.

With tracks that will impress from start to finish, Pyrame is releasing 4 remixes - on his very own label Thisbe Recordings - of his newest EP: The Pace of Everything that Lives. With Radial Gaze, Days of Being Wild, Local Suicide and Skelesys all chiming in on the tracklist, be prepared for some dark and intense grooving to come out of this one. Combining the elements of disco, rock, industrial, and techno, these pioneering producers all have their unique ways of approaching Pyrame’s passionate themes of relationships, freedom, life, and love.

Next up are the French producers Franz Kirmann and Sam Berdah, behind the Days of Being Wild label, with their remix of The Pace of Everything that Lives. The two have taken this sombre and emotional track and given it a groovy and industrial paint job. Really embracing the oriental elements that Pyrame originally included, yet kicking it up a notch, they’ve almost changed the format completely with distorted mechanical synths that oscillate and vibrate, deciding to continuously layer these over the top of one another. Progressing further into the track, the producers known for creating “slightly deranged club music”, have kept the angelic euphoria from the original, but decided to isolate the voice during the breakdown to give you a taste of the enchanting world from beyond, as it effectively fills the track with a spooky and tension filled aura. A really interesting disco-noir approach to a progressive track.

The Remix EP of The Pace of Everything that Lives is set to be released on both Vinyl and Digital, on October 16th via Thisbe Recordings.

Athens of the North (AOTN) is a label headed by Euan Fryer, a Scottish music aficionado born and raised in Edinburgh. In fact, the name for his label is based on the nickname of his hometown - a city recognized as having a reputation for learning and recalling lost knowledge from the ancient Greeks.

This is an apt name for his imprint since, much like the Scottish of the late 1700s, Euan has been on a mission to honor works of the past. Founded in 2014, AOTN has acquired the rights for vintage soul, funk and disco tracks, and re-issued them to the masses - helping curators draw inspiration from music's not-to-distant golden age.

However, AOTN is simply not just a home for re-issues. The revenue they generate from these releases fund new projects from today's crop of talented artists and musicians. Not a label to chase the latest trends, AOTN prioritizes quality and relies on the timelessness of past melodies to set themselves apart.

Having come out with Andrew Wasylyk's 60's inspired jazz LP Fugitive Light and Themes of Consolation earlier this year, AOTN returns with a brand new record titled Face the Facts. This is a collaborative piece that sees the likes of Linkwood and Other Lands joining forces for the first time. Given both producers' propensity to abide by no particular genre, this was honestly a match made in heaven. Using modular synths as their foundation, Linkwood and Other Lands traverse a myriad of soundscapes that dabble in almost everything - from  80s post-punk to modern dream-pop and down to funk-tinged Balearic disco and more.

Our favorite tune from the 13-track LP is their song "Don't Throw It," which combines Linkwood's expertise on the keys and deep sense of rhythm with Other Lands' hazy vocals and wishful songwriting. This makes for a supremely laidback experience that's akin to watching waves roll onto shore. Although its individual elements are dynamic and even vibrant at times, when grouped together, they flatten each other out in the end - creating a mood that you'll happily allow wash over you.

A dry lump had formed at the back of her throat, making it difficult to swallow. Her teeth clenched in sync with the rest of her body, the anxiety slowly creeping from her head to her toes. He took her hand and held it tightly, forcing her to focus on her breath and inhaled deeply. "You can do this" he muttered under his breath, "trust me". She looked up at him and smiled then, on the count of three, she braced herself and jumped.

Following contributions from the likes of Bufi, Colossio, Kincaid and Thomass Jackson, Hanzo & Yaman welcome a new member to their Belly Dance Services label, Tel Aviv-based producer Mishell. Tempting belly dancers from near and far, he makes his debut with Mac Que, two original cuts that match heavy percussion, hypnotic chants and darbuka driven soundscapes, backedup by remixes from the label bosses and I Lost My Poncho In Istanbul boss SEYL.

Super Drama Records bring the nearest and dearest together to complete their first trio of ‘Family Drama’ EPs. Launched this summer as a celebration of their East London Queer scene and extended family, this third installment once again represents the full electronic spectrum and features cuts from pioneers and debutants alike.

Grace Sands presses the button. A free party sister from Digs and the sadly departed Woosh’s DiY Soundsystem, plus resident at the mighty ADONIS; her pulsing, unhurried deep house cut ‘The Speech’ sets the tone and pace with the powerful voices of Barack Obama and Pharaoh Sanders.

Deeper into the EP we find legends In Flagranti who plough their decades of disco nuances into the acidic, off-grid stamps of ‘Burst Mode’ before Super Drama themselves take the reins with ‘One On One’. Stripped back and as intimate the title suggests, this takes us straight to the source; bold as brass warehouse business that wouldn’t have gone amiss in a Vasquez selection.

Wrapping up we have long time Super Drama friend Tonka making his debut with top-down cruiser ‘MK3 GTi Cabriolet’ before performance artist RODENT shuts down the year on the provocative, 160BPM techno/jungle fusion. Known for using sound, text and the body to conjure visceral moments of trans/aggressive catharsis and dis/comfort in their performances, ‘Rotwang’ captures RODENT’s unique and challenging edge and sounds absolutely twisted through those rigs we’re praying to play on more in 2021. Family time over… But not for long. We’ll see you on the dancefloor as soon as we can.

Santino Surfers walks the sunny latitudes of guitar music legacy to concoct an amorphous blend of chilled-out, soulful, and melodically lavish material. Imagine twangy 60’s black and white guitars splashed with neon color and dusty country rock curls in distorted gleam.

The ‘surf’ sound is prevalent throughout the work (hence the name), setting the dial at laid back, grooving and liberated moods that probe the frontiers of the psychedelic. The music is mostly instrumental with occasional visits by vocals and vocoders.

‘Three Corners One View’ is the second single. It sits comfortably bopping on an upbeat break, steady bass waving while guitars paint sweet and dreamy figures in the afternoon sky.

A few more singles will follow, leading up to a full-length album release on Music For Dreams. Special thanks to Koda Kultur & Musikforlæggerne for supporting this project.

Manfredas is envisioning this set in a very unique way, in his words:
“These days I usually have one day a week that is only listening to music, so basically it’s the abstract summary of that. Searching for new things, but also going deep into my personal archives. I dare to say most of it is dance music, but not for clubs. More like going into that strangle place in our heads where we dance now. I like that space, it's much more loose, not so much locked in usual tempos and structures.”
