After impressing with his recent Luka Sambe collaboration, Filter Bear returns to Dawn Till Dusk for his first solo outing on the label. The Australian prides himself on adhering to two rules when it comes to producing: melody and soul. On this very personal EP, he has delivered three stunning tracks, that have both those qualities in equal measure.

There is solemn energy to 'I Bought the Moon' which fits perfectly with the label. The production is crisp, yet deep, and will subliminally bring any dance floor into action. Multiple layers of melodies interact with each other to paint a nostalgic story that long lingers after it's finished.

On the Midnight Swim Reimagination of 'I Bought the Moon', he presents us with something very special. The original is stripped back to the bare essentials and demands your attention, and the measured movements of the percussion leave a lot of space for the melodies to swell, and extract. It makes for an emotional listen.

'How Can We Predict The Fog?' starts with a mystery, which slowly unfurls as the track progresses. Its slow rhythm is more soothing, than energetic, but it all slowly builds to a cathartic crescendo.

Good friends from Australia, Filter Bear and Luka Sambe, are back once again on Agara.

We are happy about this because they are both great people to work with and very talented musicians. This time around it is Filter Bear's first release here. The title track Second Amnesia is a laid back melodic electronica track with FB's familiar piano skills. It works either on a rainy day or a chilled out day at the beach. 
Luka Sambe added his own progressive house flavour to this tune. He brightened it up a lot and made it a lot more up-lifting. Also adding his awesome nature filled atmosphere to it. Once again a magical journey that Luka is known for.

The second tune from Filter Bear on this release is, Lola Once, a cool tech house tune that will be usable in almost any set. Something more for the dance floors. Lots of cool delay effects and slight builds will keep the energy moving. A very well rounded package here with something for everyone.

The latest release on Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Filter Bear to the label for his first EP. Hailing from Sydney, Australia Michael Lokchin aka Filter Bear made his production debut in December of 2013. His unique combination of melody, soul and dance floor ready grooves made him an instant favourite amongst melodic techno DJs.  Storied German imprint Traum took notice and signed Filter Bear's 'Mosaic' and 'Eternity' to their famed 'Tour De Traum' series. The tracks proved to be some of the Aussie artist's most poignant creations to date and the underground has been hungry for new material ever since. Now presenting just his second release of 2016 Filter Bear makes his much anticipated Replug debut with an exquisite two track EP entitled 'La Rinconada'. 

The title piece 'La Rinconada' leads the EP off and once again shows why the underground has become so enamoured with Filter Bear's musical creations. Clattering drums, bent tones and radiant textures converge for a gorgeous intro, before smooth chord changes and delicate harmonies lift the mood higher. It's elegance immediately draws you in before a piano led break pulls the heartstrings all the more. A touch cinematic, Filter Bear's widescreen vision leads to a third act of heart-melting melodies, exotic percussion and enlightening atmospheres. A gorgeous beginning to the EP.

The companion piece 'Chemist Friend' finds Filter Bear collaborating with vocalist KayLove for a wonderful complementary track to close the EP. Geared for late night play, the piece is highlighted by dubby rhythms, creamy mallets and nostalgic wails. As it's slow burning intensity grows the musical themes become increasingly poignant and all the more alluring. Following a sentimental break it's dusty percussion and low end rumblings bring further character, before the elusive motifs rise again for an elegant finale. Every now and then a piece of music comes along which touches people on a more subversive, spiritual level; Filter Bear has certainly achieved that here. A stunning conclusion to a great Replug debut for the Aussie artist. Don't miss it.

Here we find a very sophisticated package from the ever reliable Lost & Found label, as some label favourites collaborate, and also invite a house music legend on remix duties.

Luka Sambe & Filter Bear have previously collaborated, and have remixed each other, as well as both having successful solo music careers too. Here they deliver a superb track together entitled 'Hebe XVI'.

Getting to the music, the original kicks things off, and its skippy swagger is encapsulated from the off, as layers swirl in and out, and percussion floats over this afro grooved gem. A musical journey ensues as swirling pads, tinkling melodies, and even orchestral tones enter the layered masterpiece. This is a timeless musical voyage, that undulates and peaks organically and oozes class throughout.

For those that have been around for a while on the scene, will know Charles Webster as a bit of a musical institution, a true master of his game. We are spoilt here, with two mixes from the main man.

Charles' 'Mix 1' takes things deep and sleazy, a tad techier than how work he's best known for, yet superbly done, as distorted percussion joins the swaggering late night vibe thats laced with a touch of acid, yet light shines through as brilliant use of the original top line bring a different slant to the direction of the remix. Very cool indeed.

Charles 'Mix 4' is more akin to the sound we know and love from him, as we go seriously deep, with a quality remix of the highest order. Sultry moodiness, is wrapped in a blanket of deepness, but with a hint of classic American house to boot. Just what the doctor ordered.
