'Maps is the third LP from multi-instrumentalist Jerome Alexander, the man behind Message to Bears.

Following on from the success of Folding Leaves, Jerome has created something that encapsulates the folksy ambience of previous releases whilst adding an electronic dimension. Building layer upon layer, songs evolve with a fragile intensity. Vocal melodies are draped over string and guitar arrangements and end up soaring over them, at the same time lending a hook instantly recognisable as Message To Bears and blending harmoniously with the arrangement.

The overall result of Maps is something that is both startling and familiar. You are drawn in, given a map if you will, and invited on a musical journey that nods to Message to Bears' past but also leads to the future.'

Following on from 2015's Flailing Tomb LP, which appeared in numerous 'best of the year' lists, Petrels – the solo project of London-based musician and illustrator, Oliver Barrett – returns with new album, Jörð.

From the ethereal choral build of 'A Little Dust' (adapted from words by W. B. Yeats), to the euphoric aural scree of 'The Last Shard Falls', and the driving, long-form song structures, interwoven arrangements and mythological trappings of 'The Long Man', previous listeners of Barrett's work will find much to welcome in a record that builds on the distinctive, ecstatic Petrels sound.

Elsewhere, Barrett teases this sound into new shapes; 'Terra Nullius' takes an oscillating woodwind cluster and hangs from it a defiant and densely constructed (almost)pop song; 'Waldgeist' slowly unravels a deceptively simple string refrain in an elegiac and gently expanding, haunted pastoral arrangement; and 'Seithenyn Sleeps' encapsulates the joyously overwhelming live Petrels sound into a swirling, enveloping closer.

Drawing together the numerous strands of Petrels releases so far whilst confidently weaving them together into something new that promises even more to come, Jörð is another singular release from this restlessly inventive and inventively restless artist.

Since releasing his debut Haeligewielle in 2011, Petrels has toured across Europe and shared a stage with the likes of Tim Hecker, FIRE!, Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Trouble Books, Demdike Stare, Nadja, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster). Having also collaborated with and provided remixes for artists as varied as Duane Pitre, Brassica, Talvihorros and Max Cooper, Petrels' output is proving to be thrillingly eclectic and unpredictable.

"I've been remixing songs by other artists since 2001 and it's something I always like to do. This year, in collaboration with the Flau label, I've decided to compile my favourite remixes and to release them on one CD. Most of the time, I like to transform very much the original songs. I try to bring them into my own musical atmosphere. For example, on Agoria's techno song "Heart Beating", I kept nearly nothing of the original music but I replaced it by orchestral parts that I had recorded with a 40-strings orchestra for the film by HR Boe "Beast". Anyway, I always want to keep faithful to the original melodies. On this selection of remixes, I kept the original vocal parts.
Some remixes are made out of songs that I've done myself ("Dernière Etape Avant le Silence", "A_") or with my band Arca with long-time collaborator Joan Cambon ("Attractions", which inspired the title of this EP as "Abstractions").
Those remixes are another side of my musical work that had never been compiled before."

Our third release comes from legendary Broken Beat and Drum&Bass producer Colin Lindo aka Nubian Mindz aka Alpha Omega. The man needs no further introduction as he is known for his brilliant releases on labels like Reinforced, 2000Black, Archive, Delsin and many more.

‘Hacker Wacker’ is hypnotizing with sharp beats, a dubby, bleepy, broken Techno vibe ready to take you on a sweaty late-night trip. 'Vox & Cymbal' is true listening bliss. 
A timeless tune centered around warm Detroit chords, downpitched vocals and spiralling synthlines, sending you on a dream-like journey.

In contrast, '2nd Chapter of 74' impresses with a bumpy bassline, kicking perfectly together with its clever swinging House groove. Once again, Colin's trademark synths provide that extra glance. Finally 'Break the Rules' is going off with a strong Techno vibe with chords pushing the tune into a dense atmosphere before leading us off into a mellow tripping end.
