Well, let’s see…. Glad you dropped by because you get to listen to some dobro, on a new, very different version of ‘By The Sea’. https://soundcloud.com/lammbone/living-by-the-sea . When I first penned out the lyrics, there was so much going on thematically. ‘Alligator’ adds some of the original lyrics that were left out first time around as the saga continues. I had melded together experiences from my 67 years of living by cherry picking events and blending them into a singular situation, which would have make for a long song in its totality, that by nature, I shy away from, unless I am jamming. Haha. What does this all mean? First off, as an old man who finds himself reminiscing and daydreaming, there are some cathartic moments to be had in hindsight of one’s life. Looking back momentarily in the rearview is a prudent way to temper the trajectory of one’s life, especially if it has been a rocky road. Another facet of this is a personal extrication from a life one has been living, to find another way more suitable to one’s existence. In other words, the changes we make in our life to survive. There is also some grief and regret, that melt away over time. So maybe several more songs are on the horizon that elaborate on these experiences and what they mean to me. Hope you like this song. This song originated with Mark creating a bass line to a metronome, and sharing it with Ken. Ken immediately added his driving drums, and invited the rest of the EC to join in. JJ was first up, laying in his foundational organ, and e. piano magic in the first half, and the cosmic synth melody in the second part. Batting second was me, who established the melody in the first half with my electric mandolin, and mirrored the melody in the second half with the same. Next came Tez, who laid in the funky guitar right after the first break, all the way to the end. Batting clean up was Chris, who laid in the psych guitar in the first section, as well as the high guitar part in the second movement. Of course, we needed an expert producer to mix this for us, so we turned to Stephen, who always gets it exactly to everyone's specifications. That in and of itself is quite a skill, and I don't know how he does it, but everyone is always satisfied with his work.
  This is the second song we've done with Mark, who is a tremendously talented bass player, and delightfully creative songwriter. If you aren't familiar with his work, do yourself a favor and hop on over to his page for some delicious bass music. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed making it.

I thought I would try to blend some other instruments together
to make it sound a little bit like a music box, or an old timey Polyphon:

In the process as I neared completion, 
I occasionally found that, after I had done a SAVE
I then realized that I had DELETED a whole track.
So, by the time I had finished making this,
I had wished I had selected something else besides the mallets.
They were beginning to take their toll on my eardrums.

ALSO: When I was in high school, I bought a little book of Bach's 2 Part Inventions that also included the Brandenburg Concertos. I transcribed this particular tune as a piano piece. This one I played well over a thousand times and probably only got through it twice without making a mistake. As such, my mom estimates that number to be much more...poor thing.

Addendum:
I had just posted this on SC when I played it for my mom.
She passed away within a couple of weeks after that,
but she was never one to go on about these soundtracks I would make.
On this particular one though, for the first time ever,
she said, "Turn it up a little bit."

Now coming from her, that was high praise.

I uploaded this composition once before about 1 year ago. I decided to edit the track and present it again. "Spring", the cycle of life begins anew. Much strength, joy and perseverance for all of us, because the worst is over. Nature, the sun, the clouds in the sky, the swallows, titmice and starlings, Butterflies buzzing around smile at us.

Thank you to the unknown 300th listener. Your prize is safe, but you already know that. Basically, I have gained... 🙂

A long, long time ago, there was an organ in the Christmas-decorated living room in his parents' house, where Frank grew up. Originally bought by his father for his two older siblings, they showed no interest in playing the organ. Frank, however, did. White and black keys and giving off strange sounds. 

So at the age of 9 he began to let his fingers circle on this instrument, searching for the right keys like on a typewriter. And another 9 years would pass before he could buy his first own instrument. Already at the age of 13 he made notes about the then current synthesizers, bought one magazine after the other and visited music fairs in Frankfurt, Germany.

His first keyboard was the Yamaha DSR-2000, which he bought in a music store near his hometown Biebertal. In installments! Finally he could develop himself further - away from the limited tonality of the small organ. The built-in 8-track sequencer helped him to reach unimagined heights. 
Little by little his equipment expanded and his ambition to create music like that of Jean-Michel Jarres came closer. Influenced by this and countless other musicians of the time, his interest grew, but he taught himself everything. Not even having attended a music school or being able to read music at all, he wrote one song after another and recorded them on the only medium available to him at the time: audio cassettes.
Many of these recordings are unfortunately lost forever, because cassettes are and were not the best recording medium. He has to try to play many of his songs from memory. 

In 2007, he fulfilled a long-awaited wish: to buy a KORG. He had always wanted to own one, but with the latest synthesizers at the time of their release having a purchase price of over 6000 D-marks (the currency of the time in the 1980s and 1990s), that dream of owning one was far away. So in 2007 he bought a used KORG 01W/FD at ebay. And as before with the purchase of the Yamaha keyboard, a completely new world opened up to him.

In addition, there were expanders and sound modules from Kawai, Roland and Yamaha (K1m, SC-55, QY10). Six years later his enthusiasm for making music ebbed and rediscovered his hobby (which it always was and still is). In 2018 in April he decided to present his music to a wider audience and uploaded his first song on the platform soundcloud. Since that time, thanks also to the ever-evolving software, he continues to evolve, experiment and relive his times through music.

Since 1984 I am composing and recording electronic instrumental music of different styles like ambient, soundtracks, pop, new classics, or noise improvisations. "Studio Lupus Polaris" is the pseudonym of my home studio and of my musical non-profit activities.
