"Enfant Terrible of the disco scene, Gallic genius Young Pulse returns to GAMM with the second instalment of his "Paris Edits" series. If you copped the first volume then you'll know exactly what's on the menu; funk, soul and disco grooves and no messin' around! We head straight to the club on the A-side with "Enjoy & Relax", as Young Pulse reworks (or is that remixes?) Rhyze's soulful disco stomper to perfection. The re-EQed kick and bubbly bassline are as meaty as your local charcuterie, while the uplifting chord progression adds a subtle hint of fromage to get your tastebuds working overtime. Don't be put off though, I'm thinking more the mild flavour of Brie than the hefty pong of a Pont l’Eveque. On the B-side, the dynamic Frenchman zooms us far across the ocean to the shores of Brazil (perhaps he can say hi to Piccadilly staffer Martin while he's at it) for a smooth and jazzy bossa edit of soul classic "It's A Shame". Closing the EP in feel good fashion is Young Pulse's driving disco funk edit of GQ classic "Shake". As you'd expect, the bassline is king here, powering the Chic-esque strings and sunny vocals from the top to the bottom. The up-and-coming Frenchman delivers classic GAMM material here, no fuzz whatsoever! "

Feel Alive

I first met my soulful stellarsonic "Partner In Chime" (Soulpersona) back in 2006 when I was studying A Bachelor Of Popular Music Degree in my Honours year at Griffith University on Australia's Gold Coast. He found me through Myspace and thought my style was "off the chain" so he sent over a track for me to give a geeze that was to become the saucy slow-steppin' "Candy Wrapper". After he'd heard it, loved it, and wanted to continue this international digital dalliance, our creative collaborations expanded into a full-blown MUSEical relationship that would see me transfer to UKingdom's shores to further pursue my career... and to meet Soulpersona for the very first time, 5 years later!

I hope you enjoy pepper-peeping these as much as I thoroughly revelled in co-birthing them. The fated collision of Freesh and SoulP was destined to change my life forever, in only the HOXXXIEST ways! :)

Freesia's Late Night Fantasy feat Princess Freesia

"The label with the giant sound is back for release number fifteen, Kojak's the name and edits are the game. Having previously played host to the likes of Nicholas, Maxxi Soundsystem and Al Kent, DJ Ionik's imprint has developed a pedigree for classy edits by players at the top of the game. For release number fifteen Ebony Cuts rolls up to the party, adjusts his tie and puts the champagne on ice. 

Up first under the scalpel is Jesse Gould's "Out of Work", an uptempo disco funk track with filtered guitar matched by a bouncing bassline.  This is one of those bumping disco funk tracks for peak time enjoyment. Ebony Cuts has stitched the vocal and instrumental versions from the original P&P release together and come out of it with a raw funk bomb. Samples are slightly off and bass drums double over each other, but I don't care and neither does Ebony Cuts. A wild disco edit that can hide a shoddy mix, perfect.

On the flipside Ebony Cuts extends Roy Ayers' "Can't You See Me" into a finger clicking, shoulder popping groovathon. Thanks to a subtle restructure of the track, the smooth jazz funk of the original is given some extra dancefloor dynamics, with each instrumental break looped up for full impact. This is the classiest of cocktail disco, the kind of track Dimitri plays while he sips on a white russian."

"オープニングのドラム・ブレイクを引き延ばし、中盤のインストパート→フック→本編と絶妙に再構築されたRoy Ayres「Can't You See Me」のエディットが最高！！

フィンランドのDJ Ionikが主宰するオブスキュア・エディット・レーベル【Kojak Giant Sound】の15作目は、あのSelfmade Millionaireを手掛けていたハンブルグのディスコ・フリークEbony Cutsによる2トラックEdit！

何と言っても注目したいのが「Roy Ayers / Can't You See Me」のエディットとなるB「Can't You See Me (Ebony Cuts Edits)」。原曲ではドラムブレイクから本編へとすぐに入っていくため、殆どの場合クイック・ミックスする事が多かったのですが、このエディットではブレイクが引き延ばされ、しかもそこから中盤のヴァイブ＆スキャット・ソロに至るインストパートを用意し、ループと再構築を交えて、ジワジワとしたビルドアップ感を携えて本編へと持っていけるという抜群の仕上がり！そしてAサイドには、Billy Nicholas手掛けた【P&P】産のブギー/ディスコ・ナンバーJesse Gould「Out Of Work」のエディットで、こちらもインストパートを主軸に、そのドライブ感のあるブラック・ディスコ・サウンドを構築していた、こちらも素晴しい仕上がり。オススメです！"
