Having shared the decks with everyone from Cubicolor to Martin Roth, and having a debut EP on Bedrock earlier this year, Canada's juSt b is swiftly becoming a name too hard to ignore. Her debut release on Balance delivers an exceptionally cerebral track that will sit flush in many sets. Also featured are four quality remixes that take in everything from deep techno, to breaks and more…

The deep beat on 'Light Sweeper' is undeniable with its mysterious energy. Glacial synths sweep the top end while being punctured by pondering piano stabs. There is bipolar nature to the production: warm and enveloping in the lows yet cold and wintry in the highs. It's a steady rhythm intent on intoxicating you.

The @audioglider remix reconstitutes the original into a thick, almost Amen breaks like direction. The synths are blown up to an optimal size and layered into a melodic sequence, keeping the original mystery. The breakdown is progressive house bliss, melancholy without being saccharine, before crashing back into the rhythm with added vocal by juSt b and soaring strings.

@jameswelsh's deep techno take is filled with percolating percussive hits and melodic arps weaving in and out of each other with total abandon. Featuring a considerably bigger kick, this is one to kickstart the main room.

The @mattrmusic remix starts off minimal with a deep meta physical engine, a hulking rhythm that slowly moves forward. Two separate breakdowns introduce a rising melody soaked in emotion, and the latter explodes into a 4/4 pattern that will sound divine on a dusty festival dancefloor.

If you're after the perfect opening track, look no further than the elegant remix from @ev3rsun. With its delightful opening 2 minute sequence, it is one part ambient and one part secret waiting to be told. It breaks into a gentle rhythm that sets the mood for what's to follow.

01 The Midnight - Shadows (Uppermost Remix)

Silk Music is honored to present an inspired new remix of The Midnight's "Shadows," courtesy of French virtuoso Uppermost. A household name amongst the indie-electronic set, due in part to several extraordinary artist albums over the past decade, Uppermost is an especially thrilling addition to our artist roster. Not unlike The Midnight, Uppermost was heavily influenced by the cult film "Drive," and his recent "Given by Nature" artist album -- a veritable masterpiece -- combines retro-laced electronic motifs with modern production techniques, to emotive and exhilarating effect.

The first of several 'remixed' singles ahead of our forthcoming "The Midnight Remixed 02" album release, Uppermost's remix of "Shadows" is a slow-burner that not only showcases The Midnight's evocative songwriting and (often) noir-tinged aural aesthetic, but also Uppermost's equally cinematic musical stylings. A dramatic, beat-less intro shines a spotlight on Tyler Lyle's gripping first verse; at the quarter turn, powerful, reverb-heavy drums begin to propel the arrangement forward, soon followed by an Uppermost signature: an entrancing series of pitched vocal effects, which conspire to create one of the song's most memorable hooks. The arrangement's patient crescendo reveals the second verse of "Shadows," later joined by the soaring, unforgettable refrain, "Shadows in the city / I'm a stranger to myself / On these streets I'm someone else." Following this climactic sequence, Uppermost treats the listener to his ornate orchestration one last time, as the arrangement features a dazzling coda, replete with the French maestro's mesmerizing, robot-on-acid vocal effects.

He now drops the fist release on the newly formed Loft & Sound imprint who place focus on pushing fresh electronic music within the genres of IDM, electronica, leftfield house, techno and leftfield breaks.

‘SubDivs’ kicks off the EP with dreamy melodic flutters, blissful leads and warm, shimmering low frequencies underneath before ‘Cygnus’ offers up a breaks-tinged cut featuring growling bass notes, syncopated, scatty rhythms and angelic pads that harmonises all under multiple alluring soundscapes.

Next up, ‘Enterica’ progresses into a euphoric atmospheric cut peppered with deep resonations and alleviating melodies until the bright, experimental house track ‘Cruzi’ rounds off proceedings with revolving, warped modulations, choppy vocal samples and rattling highs and reverberating kicks giving it a burst of synth-driven energy throughout.

Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, breaks, and techno producer from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr would share decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with fellow innovator Alex Banks as well as Maxxi Soundsystem, and XXXY, to name a few. His growth over the last few years has really been quite incredible, attracting the interest of some of the world's top DJs and labels. With releases on Innervisions, Tau, Azzur, & Sum Over Histories, he brings to us a new 4-track EP, each cut unique in itself while preserving that familiar & unmistakable INVŌKER touch. To go along with his three originals, Paris/Valencia-based @parsifalmusic has remixed the title track, 'Copycats'. Having this talent back on our label, following a fantastic EP with fellow label boss Tommy Gren in September, makes us very proud.

Apollo Jr (Andrés Molano) was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He started with the production of electronic music and then as a DJ. His sound is a kind of aggressive and energetic melodic sound, it is the main idea of most of his tracks.

Apollo Jr is going to spread some of his work with his Ep 'Just Exhale', including 'Circles' and 'Just Exhale' two huge tracks full of power and melodic vibes.
