Papa Loko conjured some serious rave magic at FOLD London once again on Saturday 22.10.22 with music from Diana Isi, JuSt B, Othon, me plus The Gongregation who entranced us with huge sonorous gongs all night in The Temple of Light. The night began with a group meditation followed by Kirtan by Vaun which set the mood and brought us into the present...truly inspired intention, planning and execution yet again with incredible sound, space, lighting and of course fellow ravers 🖤

The spirit of the people of Iran in their fight for freedom has been the most inspiring thing I've witnessed in my life, and this mix is my homage to them. It's my expression of the Inspiration, the struggle and the dream of the freedom that awaits at the end, a celebration of this future that I know will come.

Drift off on the cosmic trip created by Goro and Lev Tatarov. We were so happy to have them perform together on the Karismatik stage, as they are family to us and, we were always big fans of their music. 

They are truly musical geniuses who understand how to elevate the audience. Bravo loves. The performance was spot on!

We can't wait to go back for a bit!!!!

Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, breaks, and techno producer from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr would share decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with fellow innovator Alex Banks as well as Maxxi Soundsystem, and XXXY, to name a few. It was from there that he made the move to Berlin to study music production & performance and where he'd form a friendship with label partner, Max Winstanley (Lewyn Stan)who he paired up with to launch their Helical Scan imprint. 

After years honing his sound, Matthew went on to release his first album along with several other productions on Faceless Recordings, TrippyCode, Ozono, and CRR, garnering support from Amé, Guy Gerber, Anja Schneider, Nick Warren, Rodriguez Jr, & the legendary Laurent Garnier.

25 years after first cutting his teeth DJing tech house & breaks, Mattr's broad musical palette often draws him closer to the more emotive side of electronic music, finding deep resonance with forward-thinking artists like Max Cooper, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, Overmono, Fourtet, Phon.O and Radioactive Man, whom you'll hear plenty of in his consistent & beautifully diverse mix series.

We now see the first release on his newly formed Loft & Sound imprint, with focus on fresh sounds within the genres of IDM, electronica, leftfield house, techno and leftfield breaks.

‘SubDivs’ kicks off the EP with dreamy melodic flutters, blissful leads and warm, shimmering low frequencies underneath before ‘Cygnus’ offers up a breaks-tinged cut featuring growling bass notes, syncopated, scatty rhythms and angelic pads that harmonises all under multiple alluring soundscapes ~ perfectly fitting to the origin of its name, being the Milky Way's northern constellation.

Next up, ‘Enterica’ progresses into a euphoric atmospheric cut peppered with deep resonations and alleviating melodies until the bright, experimental house track ‘Cruzi’ rounds off proceedings with revolving, warped modulations, choppy vocal samples, rattling highs and reverberating kicks, giving it a burst of synth-driven energy throughout.
