It’s officially the 50th Good Custard Mixtape and we’ve pulled out all the stops. 

Not only is it the first time we’ve had two artists feature on one mixtape, we’ve got the co-owners of one of the hottest disco labels around right now (Tropical Disco Records) – Moodena & Sartorial.

In celebration of the GC 50th Mix Special they’ve dropped a 100% Tropical Disco Mix. Featuring tracks past & forthcoming on T.D!

Tropical Disco Records has become one of the runaway success stories of the disco scene. Co-helmed by the close friends Moodena and Sartorial; it’s a label built on the rock solid foundations of passion for music, parties and a love of vinyl. Coupled with an impressive work ethic and impressive A&R credentials the label has already achieved an endless series of chart topping singles and sell-out vinyl releases.

Their considerable skills in the DJ booth have also preceded them with huge demand across the globe for the Tropical Disco sound leading to festival appearances and impressive club bookings. Tossed between the raging rhythms of funk and disco, Funky District creates punchy and groovy House that will shake bodies from heads to toes. 

Their talent has been relayed and recognized by big names in the milieu such as Délicieuse Musique and Bon Entendeur. 

Having first started out with hip hop beats, the band has taken a new turn by creating upbeat music tailored for the clubs. Its strength lies in their ability to take listeners on a journey through their melodies, which they don't hesitate to transmit during their vibrant live sets.

Born in 1995, Mark Lower, is a French international NuDisco DJ, producer and remixer.

The Lille based artist started playing records at the age of 11 and quickly started producing his own music, learning alongside Thomas Leclercq, better known as Man Of Goodwill, who taught him everything about making beats.

First producing progressive house and electro, Mark’s tastes has been refined over time and has been producing NuDisco since 2012.

In only a few years, Mark Lower’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of spectacular. His breakout hit 'Bad Boys Cry', released in 2013 on one of New York’s most emblematic House Music label: Nervous Records, has overcome a total of 80 million plays, all streaming platforms combined, and continues to climb steadily.

With a slew of chart topping originals & remixes under his belt since, he continues to see great success in his tracks, evidently on display throughout this great mix!

This instalment of the mixtape series needs no introduction as he is a certified legend of the disco scene: Grammy nominated Michael Gray!

Michael Gray is a hugely respected and established British DJ and music producer, best known for his hits ‘The Weekend’ & ‘Borderline’ He is also one half of the dance music production and remixing duo 'Full Intention' who have been at the forefront of Dance music since the early 90s.

London-based Michael is one of the most in-demand Artists on the global dance music scene today. Having relaunched his solo career as Michael Gray in 2018 to pursue his original love of Disco, Michael has already become the world #2 Soul/Funk/Disco Artist on Traxsource - an incredible achievement and a worthy accolade for Michael's world-class production skills. 

Throw into the mix awesome DJ sets at the best events in the UK, and a host of chart topping tracks with Jon Pearn as Full Intention, and you start to see the full picture of one of the UK's most talented Artists. GC059 - Wahine 🇺🇸 

In less than 3 years, Wahine (wah-hee-neh) has risen from total obscurity into a rising star in the disco scene. Winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019 and making her international debut at the boutique festival put her on the radar of key tastemakers in the disco and house scene, despite a 10-year hiatus from DJing. 

Wahine co-hosts Spin City on the World’s #1 House Radio Station, MyHouseRadio.fm, in addition to contributing guest mixes to many important shows and radio stations in the genre, including Mi-House, NDC Radio, SWU.fm, Disco Deviance and DiscoDaze. She also writes a guest column for top-ranked house music blog, LeVisiteur.com, and kicked off an interview show for Only Good Vibes in 2021 focused on US-based talent. 

Wahine’s sound can be described as “Disco in Paradise”—sundrenched and full of tropical influences, matching her Hawaiian moniker. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams with both equal parts brains and brawn. 

This year she began her foray into music production and her early mashups are already receiving support from radio shows from The Black Light Disco to OpenTempo FM.

She joined the Deck-O-Dance DJ Agency and kicked off her first European tour in November 2021 with dates in the UK, Germany, and Ireland. Most recently, she rebooted her tropical-flavored disco event, Wahine’s Hideaway with Scottish disco don, Dicky Trisco in May of this year.

Whether he is performing under his Disco alias of CONAN THE SELECTOR or as one half of electronic act ARCADE 82 or even if he is dropping House Classics as MARK PICKUP you can be sure he will have a massive smile under that beard and so will everyone on the dance floor

Mark is also co-label boss and A&R of Hot Gorilla Records, a joint project
with his long time musical buddy Andy Buchan, they have charted dozens of times, had 7 Top 10 releases and several No.1s including a No.1 debut compilation album in 2022.

GCR001 - DJ Keegan

DJ Keegan is no stranger to the custard life and has held residency’s in Melbourne and played many a gig across the South of the UK. His main influences were predominantly garage based however over the years, has been transformed into a resounding house and disco head. He's the type of DJ that could start a party in your nans cereal cupboard. His passion for pumpers is showcased nicely in this mix, along with his ability to chop vocals in and out like Gordon Ramsey himself. Incorporating all that’s great about disco, starting with a brand new track from Shapeshifters which sounds like it is fresh off an 80's dancefloor. To Mark Funk sampling a classic from Chaka Khan. Finally finishing off on his one his favourite tracks of all time by Marlena Shaw, DJ Keegans mix really exemplifies the spirit of the Good Custard vibe.

With his Manchester debut just last year, he has gained notoriety in the Good Custard ranks displaying a strong depth and variation in track selection. Dropping RKO’s outta nowhere has become a staple trademark of his sets much like the signature curtains he sports on a day to day basis.

Hot off the heels from our first live stream this past weekend, Harry has provided us with a fresh afrobeat inspired mix which delivers a bigger kick than the food he’s known for eating. He’s a man of very few words, which is often mirrored well by the distinct lack of vocals in his sets. With his poor taste in football teams he doesn’t half make up for it with his music. Sure they’ll be plenty more to come from Mr. Bailey.

Ellis is another of the custard crew straight out the blocks with his first mix of the series. His devotion to the custard life is frequently displayed with his infamous yellow hair, hat and jacket combinations. The range of hats in his mix is also a very good resemblance of the range of hats hanging from his bedroom door. If he’s not cooking up custard behind his desk you’ll find Ellis smoking Bensons and making pornstars. With many of his own edits and remix’s already under his belt this boys one to watch.
