Biophilia - Chapter 5

It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first guest mix of my Biophilia mix series Iberian Wanderer🌿

Coming from sunny Portugal, I set IB13 the challenge of creating a mix that evokes the spirit of the natural world, how they chose to interpret that brief was entirely up to them as nature elicits different emotions in all of us. The result is a beautiful 2 hour mix through ambient, techno and house🍃

Biophilia - Chapter 8

After a jam packed end to the summer with 2 trips to Italy, I’m excited to jump back on the Biophilia high horse with Chapter 9 this week.

From this episode on, each Biophilia Chapter will have a musical theme in which each mix will be based around. This will help each mix feel more coherent whilst also allowing me to concentrate my musical crate digging each month into one specific area, rather than using a more scatter gun approach.

With that in mind, I’ll be kicking off this new approach with my old reliable deep and ambient sound, a sound that I feel is the antithesis of my Biophilia mix series.

Biophilia Chapter 10 is here! Biophilia - Chapter 10

Biophilia Chapter 11 was an experiment in playing a peak time techno set, infused by nature. It was a really fun couple of hours behind the decks and a successful one too, playing a more energetic set whilst keeping the influence of the natural world is definitely possible and makes for quite a unique set with lots of cool organic sounds and big atmospheres. This is the kind of set I would love to play again!

Biophilia - Chapter 11

The final Biophilia Chapter of 2024🌿

The final mix for the year saw me travel through the different sounds I've been playing this year, from ambient dub to groovy hypnotic, and everything in between. Expect some of my favourites from 2024 as well as some new unplayed stuff. it was a really fun mix🌱

Biophilia will be returning in February 2025, I'm taking January off to move, as well as have a much needed clean up of my Rekordbox collection.

Hypnus Records for me best encapsulates this idea of crossing the natural world with electronic music, whether that’s through an bliss ambient album or some dance floor heaters, each release on the label has its own unique way of incorporating some form of the natural world into its music🌀

Biophilia - Chapter 17

I’m very excited to share the second guest to contribute a chapter to my Biophilia mix series.

From sunny Sardinia, deep-sky objects is a co-curator of Out Of Focus — a podcast and event series dedicated to the deeper, more introspective shades of dance music. I’ve really enjoyed their mixes this year; they bring sounds and inspirations from all sorts of different realms.

His mix weaves together organic sounds from faraway worlds, introspective and ethereal soundscapes, and hypnotic rhythms that send your head into a twist. It’s a diverse listen that I keep coming back to. The small ambient interludes between the more beat-driven tracks give the whole thing a mellow, relaxed tone — they reframe the beats and basslines as more than just dancefloor enablers, giving them new purpose within the laid-back flow of the mix.

Biophilia - Chapter 19

My 2025 year mix is here!

2025 was quite a diverse year for my musical taste, whilst my typical brand of deep and dub techno was still ever present throughout the year, I also dipped my toes in the worlds of electro, jungle and downtempo. This mix represnts the many sounds and BPMs that shaped my year musically, it was a really fun challenge taking a mix from very still ambient, all the way through to 170 BPM, wibbly wobbly dnb, all in under 3 hours!
