BRUK is a new platform for fresh variations on the soundsystem ethic, in particular where high-end sound design intersects with formidable bassweight. It’s an artist-focused endeavour geared towards producers with range, depth and ingenuity in their sound.
 
The first transmission comes from FFT, the latest alias from accomplished producer Josh Thompson. Thompson established the Super Hexagon label with long time friends J. Wiltshire and Arthur Scott-Geddes and he’s also released on heritage label R&S (as Alma Construct) and the excellent offbeat techno upstarts Power Vacuum, and more recently developed the FFT moniker via essential drops on The Trilogy Tapes as well as Super Hexagon. Thompson helps launch BRUK with a two-pronged attack  that shows off the breadth of his artistic scope. The lead 12” is a dynamic club release that pivots between razor-sharp drum programming, hyphy synth acrobatics, breakbeat science and dub-loaded atmospheres. If there’s one constant that runs through all Thompson’s work, it’s a resounding confidence with melody, and that comes through even in the rowdy chops of “Month” – a track that exudes hope even in its gnarliest bars. From the dreadweight minimalism of “Fask” to the expansive electronica shock out of “Sacrifice (The Truth Mix)”, this is a head-twisting release that feeds into the vital new energy reverberating around the 150+ axis.
 
Accompanying that 12” is a cassette album which provides that polar opposite side to FFT – a collection of compelling beatless ruminations under the banner of Total Self-Fulfilment. Gliding from low frequency industrial textures to expressive synth modulation, this is far from static music, even as it moves without the aid of a traditional rhythm section.
 
It’s a strong first chapter for BRUK, with future releases lined up from artists similarly poking at the fabric of contemporary club music to find their own unique spaces for expression.

After two tasty records released on Renascence, Realitycheck is back with a four-sided third opus. If the precision of technoïd drumtracks and fierce skills for dreamy pads still infuse in this new EP, there is a straight turn towards british spheres happening here. Ravy breakbeats on « xternal », bass-music percussive grooves on « Big Sur » or skinned garage architecture on « Dem », it's a travel through the many faces of this legacy. Landing in space with « Heavy Mantra », a wise futuristic dub bomb for alien minds, this new record delivered by our beloved Realitycheck sets up even further his hability to craft weapons of choice.

Pressure Dome returns from the isolation of our remote research facility with a ten-track collection of emotionally depth-charged explorations of movement and mode.

Dubbed-out atmospherics, futuristic UK Techno, IDM tinged jungle and 2-step rhythms take us through a world of playful hybridity and fluid frequencies.

All proceeds from PDCOMP002 will be split between Black Minds Matter UK, The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and Caring in Bristol.

“Victim Of The System” is a 28-track compilation from newly formed label Twin System, with all profits going towards Brixton Soup Kitchen. 
Twin System is made up of South London-based DJs and producers DJ Baklava, Flytipper, and brothers Billy and Lewi Boome. 
After gravitating towards certain sonic worlds throughout a residency on Balamii radio and a handful of parties in London & Bristol, ‘Victim Of The System’ arrives as an effort to showcase some of the artists whose music has kept our minds and moods ticking over throughout the lockdown period. 
Curated in collaboration with friend of the label Junior, and available alongside a tee designed by Rotterdam based illustrator Tim Mulder, a varied batch of sounds feature. 
Functional heaters sit alongside malfunctioning oddities, united by an ear-tickling capability. 

Brixton Soup Kitchen offers critical support to the homeless and in need, and relies heavily on donations to sustain their work, particularly in these trying times. 
Still supporting the local community while temporarily closed due to the pandemic, they provide relief to many disproportionately affected BAME persons, as well as a homeless population forced back onto the streets since temporary housing provided came to an end.

Dust gathered under the wheels, filling the air around them as their speed steadily increased. They had not seen another car on the open road for miles and miles, and now the temptation to put their foot down on the gas had become such that their MPH had far exceeded 100. The momentum was freeing; the breeze that ruffled their hair and the soft warm air that tickled their noses was the perfect antidote to the confines of the city they'd come to escape.

Milan-based producer Piezo is gearing up for the release of his debut album Perdu, following a healthy string of EPs for the likes of 81, Version, Wisdom Teeth, Idle Hands and his own Ansia imprint. Hundebiss is the home for his new long player which flaunts contrasting elements, at times raw, low and pulsating and at others, crystal clear and digital. Further demonstrating his knack for crafting UK techno and bass-leaning electronics and IDM cuts, Piezo connects the dots between his Italian roots and the sounds of Bristol.

The pieces were lined up on the board, mysterious figures which stood tall and mighty atop black and white squares. Onlookers gathered to watch the two men play in the heat of the afternoon. They sat perched beneath a tree surrounded by a small crowd, the sound of the city echoed all around with an intense rumble as they prepared to engage in a battle of wit. This was chess, a dangerous sport for the uninitiated, one in which it was easily possible to lose your head and control. Dust billowed from the ground as the clouds rolled in, the game had begun. 

Plebeian is set to release a new EP via Molten Moods, an oddball affair which is destined to cause chaos in dark basements and smoked out rooms. It comes firmly stamped with our seal of approval, as does Molten Moods as a label.
