For the 27th act, Etang Brulant (@etang-brulant)is happy to yield the floor to the French duo ‘Les Maîtres Fous’ (@lesmaitresfous), composed by the musician behind ‘Les Maux’ or ‘brg’ (already seen on Etang Brulant, and Berlin-based imprint Ygam) and a French-language lyricist and singer that you can call from now on ‘Labolakis’.

For their debut EP, called "Le Tombeau des Météores", after two performances operated between Marseille and Paris, the duo confirms its talent with 6 powerful tracks and its unique vision of French variety, revisited with tr(h)ip-hop rhythmics or technoid drumkits, squeezed dry to let the soothing voice of Labolakis emerge from reverberated atmospheres or gabber-ish kicks.

"The Death of Icarus", WL//WH is pleased to premiere, unravels esoteric lyrics to dive into the metaphysical realms of being tempted by the divine, escaping the mortal flesh, and becoming one with the Universe.
Primal jackal howls radiate upwards through slowed, stark breakbeat rhythms and sinuous swelling deep bass pulsations, building a mesmeric tapestry of expanding horizons under deep heartfelt French vocal's ceremonial release of transformative energies, while stark, trembling, lonely resonant wistful chords and warm glowing synth swathes rise hypnotically into a soothing incandesce of celestial awe.
Les Maîtres Fous' upcoming 6-track EP "Le Tombeau des Météores" is slated for release on May 5, 2021, through Etang Brûlant [EB27].

Edinburgh-based composer and sound designer Joshua Sabin is an experimental artist which has been working since the mid-2010 with extensive sample and field recordings manipulation. He released his debut record, called Terminus Drift, for the now Berlin-based label Subtext Recordings in February 2017. 

Sutarti is the latest Joshua Sabin's work which will be officially made available tomorrow, July the 5th in vinyl and digital formats. While his debut album explored humans' relationship with the environment, space, and ubiquitous digital technologies, Sutarti draws influence from the psychoacoustic features and the compositional structures existing within early Lithuanian folk music. In this record, Sabin taps into the exterminated field recordings archive of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Ethnomusicology massively editing, distorting, pitching, filtering, and manipulating them to better exploit the emotional impact of the human voice on the listener's conscious (and unconscious) self.

We are very happy to present you the third episode in the overall 40-minutes-long Sutarti record, split into six separate movements. Sutarti: III takes on with more than 6 minutes of archival voices radical recontextualizations, which, at the same time, manifest from Joshua Sabin's very personal, interesting and inspiring artistic research, and also try to directly reflect and recontextualize the universal, ancestral potency of the Voice as humans' primary means to express themselves.

‘Kainos’ is the debut album by Index, a new electronic music project by British musician Simon Scott, recorded in 2016 to 2019 in Los Angeles. Scott is a veteran British composer, field recordist, drummer and mastering engineer. 
Taking inspiration from the conflicting opinions of Brexit debates from the Houses Of Parliament, Scott fed these live streams into his modular synthesiser for improvising and composing with. These symbiotic jams formed the foundations for each Index track, with only the sparse nocturnal beats from a Roland 909 and transparent editing of each modular jam to accompany the synthesis. 

Scott’s association with shoegaze, as a member of UK band Slowdive, and ambient influences, present in his solo work on Touch and 12k, is replaced by the early electronics influence of Coil and Throbbing Gristle on Insides, early metal pioneers Black Sabbath rising on tracks such as Blackesh and Exit B. The throbbing 909 pulse on Sprinkles provides a Dubbed out groove that calls to mind Arthur Russell jamming with Basic Channel and the bottom heavy bass lines of dubstep on Countdown has is visceral and contains a brooding sample of Rachel Goswell’s (from Slowdive) voice sucking everything into the mix.
A key conceptual influence to Kainos is Luigi Russolo’s Futurist manifesto for music, The Art Of Noises who glorifies the use of “noise-sounds” and other nonconventional musical sounds. This captures the imagination of a modern culture immersed in ecological disaster (climate catastrophe) and surrounded by the constant noise of capitalism and consumerism. Other inspirations for this album were taken from literary and non-musical ideas such as Donna Haraway’s 2016 book ‘Staying with the trouble; Making kin in the Chthulucene ’ and its central tenet that “our task is to make trouble, to stir up potent response to devastating events on a damaged earth”.
Index is the musical expression of Scott’s profound discontent with the lack of equilibrium we have right now and how disconnected we have all become in relation to nature and each other. Kainos means “now, a time of beginnings, a time for ongoing, for freshness” (Haraway). It is born from ecological grief and political frustration at a time when electronic and ambient music is sitting too comfortably in safe areas of sonic experience with nothing to say and providing aural wallpaper that is safe and sterile.

Fusing ambient with the winsome emotive nostalgia of Hollywood symphonic soundtracks, Romance cascades hypnogogic hooks through trance inducing polyrhythmic peaks. 

You Must Remember This is a psychotropic, time-smearing mixtape album of chopped & screwed romantic classical and new age ballads, drawing on themes of classical beauty, faded glamour and altered states. 

Straddling the Warholian line of high / low culture, Romance combines the sacred legato dreamtime of Edward Artemiev’s haunting soundtrack for Tarkovsky’s ’Stalker’ the sculptural repetition of Philip Glass with the syrupy emotional grandiosity of Whitney Houston or Celine Dion. Unspooling motifs from the forgotten annals of film history, collaged and suffused with decaying reverb and crystalline echoes YMRT conjures otherworldly atmosphere akin to fellow hauntologists GAS, Burial and The Caretaker.
