The thing about non repeating octaves is if you go too far above or below the fundamental its goes "out". Working with this was interesting because synths can be octave shifted easily and you find yourself making creative decisions on timbre that you wouldn't normally think about.

Ferranti invented the ULA in 1972, claiming that it was the first "to turn the logic array concept into a practical proposition." A ULA allowed a single LSI chip to replace hundreds or even thousands of gates that otherwise would be implemented in a board full of 7400-series TTL chips. The most well-known users of a ULA are the popular Sinclair ZX 81 and ZX Spectrum home computers.3

A ULA was based on a matrix of identical cells that were wired to form the logic gates. Around the edges of the chip, standardized peripheral cells provided the desired I/O capabilities. The cell contains multiple transistors and resistors, which are mostly unconnected by default. The ULA is customized by creating connections between the components to build a set of logic gates.

Based in Kernow ( Cornwall ) For me its the music and the connections it makes. Expect some genre bending electronic music - Breaking the grid both vertically and horizontally but attempting to still be listenable.

I like to synthesise most things and I prefer uncompressed mixes and masters. If its quiet its probably meant to be a lullaby.

Inspired initially by the early pioneering albums Pheadre and Rubycon by Tangerine Dream (which his father played extensively in his formative years), Whilom has collected influences into his sonic armoury that reflect 50 years of listening across genres. 

Building on a basis of lo-fi electronic and ambient of all sorts, elements of soundtrack, contemporary classical and post-rock find themselves weaved into melodies and textures.

Autobiographical and fundamentally human touches are bought to the fore with samples of family and friends - some long gone, sourced from old tapes made by much missed grandparents. Sometimes described as eerie or melancholic,  and at times slightly grubby or broken – Whilom’s music ruminates on common themes on the cycle of life, getting old and all that – whilst adding a soundtrack to the movie of the listeners own life.
