We are honoured to share a deeply personal and beautiful ambient mix by Blind Observatory for Unrush. True to his signature style, this mix unfolds like an acoustic panorama - layered with cinematic textures, immersive sounds, and delicate facets of emotion. Each track flows effortlessly, as if hiking through a natural biotope of sound, moving between different atmospheres with a calm ease. This mix is dedicated to his beloved dog, Plüshka, who recently passed away:

"I compiled and recorded this set during the last weeks I had with my wonderful dog Plüshka. My true soulmate. It is a story of two tethered souls slowly untangling. About a connection getting grainy, then fuzzy and blurry before fading. A journal of our parting. It's a little tribute to my big love."

This heartfelt journey is an ode to love, loss, and the unbreakable bond between kindred spirits. We hope you enjoy the set and have a relaxed start to the week...

Phonons Podcast 103 Al Blayney

There’s something special about clicking with someone musically, aesthetically, and on a human level. That’s exactly how we feel about our collaboration with Mostra Festival, which is entering its third year. We’re thrilled to introduce some of the talent performing at the 2025 edition and to continue this creative exchange with our friends from Spain.

Mostra 2025 happens April 17-20 at two brand-new locations. With two waves of artists already announced, it’s clear that the high bar set by previous editions has once again been met. Expect the finest in ambient, experimental, avant-garde, and techno. The final wave of artists will be revealed tomorrow, February 12—keep an eye on the festival’s socials for the full announcement. More details on the lineup, new venues, and everything Mostra-related will be coming soon to our page.

Today’s guest mix comes from an artist we’ve been following closely: Mariachiara Troianiello, aka Katatonic Silentio. An Italian producer, DJ, and researcher, she moves between electronic music, performing arts, and sound studies, blending abstraction with club energy. Active as a DJ for over 15 years, her sets oscillate between an analog past and a fast-moving future—sometimes dreamy and introspective, other times razor-sharp and unpredictable.
This January, she was part of ExtraMostra event at Berlin’s OHM, where Mostra & Midgar joined forces. Alongside DjSport, Forest Drive West, Keplrr, and Severja, she delivered a mind-bending set in a packed-out club that couldn’t fit everyone who wanted in.

For her guest mix in our series, Katatonic Silentio explores dub techno in her own meticulous way—controlled, intentional, and always with a sense of movement. The first hour plays with restraint, each track given space to breathe, while subtle shifts build an unspoken tension. Just when you think you’ve settled into the groove, she nudges things into unexpected territory—tightening the pulse, throwing in off-kilter patterns, and steering toward a more kinetic, unpredictable second hour. It’s a mix that keeps you on your toes, unfolding with precision rather than force. A refined trip from an artist who never takes the obvious route.

Delayed x Mostra: Katatonic Silentio

Jo Johnson’s explorations in sound have ranged from free-form punk with Huggy Bear in the 90s, to underground techno in the 00s, and, for the last decade, deeply expressive electronic minimalism that pays tribute to the many women who pioneered this genre. She has released with respected labels including Further Records and Mysteries of the Deep in the US and Frequency Domain and Castles in Space in the UK. Her latest project, Alterations, is a 'slow' album that she is recording and self-releasing track-by-track throughout 2025. 

For the fourth edition of Waves, Jo Johnson presents a mix of absolute celestial beauty, building delicately with deep and lush ambiance into a trip of interstellar melodies, this is the perfect way to start your week off right.

Monument Waves 004 : Jo Johnson

It’s a genuine delight to welcome Sarah Wreath to the Unrush mix series. 

Sarah and Mareena first met at SuperBooth in 2018 - a wonderful, annual playground for synth lovers in Berlin. They were both working at the front desk, surrounded by machines, cables, curious conversations, and the kind of people who speak fluent modular. It was one of those encounters that sticks. Since then, their paths kept crossing at different corners of the music world, always briefly, but with a deep mutual respect and warmth.

Sarah’s mix for Unrush feels like slipping into a slow, sonic ritual: deep, patient, and textured with intention. At times, it´s layers reveal a delightful obscurity, inviting you to explore unexpected twists and hidden depths. You can sense her background in sound research and therapeutic practice, as well as her love for psychedelic edges and raw, old-school techno. As a producer, she has released her debut LP on The Bunker New York in 2024 and has recently dropped fresh collaborative tracks with Sandwell District.

Here for Unrush, the mix isn’t just a selection of tracks. It’s a carefully curated journey that moves through space and feeling. Lean back, close your eyes, and enjoy the ride...

There’s a rhythm to how the festival unfolds. Thursday opens slowly, almost like a breath in. By Friday night, the pulse is stronger, but not too heavy. Monument festival had settled into its rhythm, and Kia and Polygonia stepped into the wooden dj-booth together.

The forest floor was vibrating, the crowd fully present. Their set matched the moment—playful, warm, and alive. It felt like Friday was always meant to sound like this. Varden became their playground.

This was more than a strong back-to-back. Two years earlier, they met here, both playing solo, both part of the Monument line-up for the first time. This night marked an anniversary of their friendship. From solo artists to close friends, now creating something special together.
