The wunderkind Oby Nine is no stranger to Amsterdam based INI Movement. As a label fixture, he contributed to Vuelo Nocturno Remixes EP and was featured on De Gulden Snede I. He now returns aiming for the brain with his own remix EP in hand. Oby’s latest musical project is an aural inquiry into the pleasure-inducing chemical, serotonin, which lends its name to this EP. The Serotonin Remix EP is a collection of Oby’s Serotonin single and various remixes.

The EP is a collaborative endeavour between Oby and five phenomenal Dutch producers. On Serotonin, we witness Oby Nine, Jarreau Vandal, Umoja, Moiety, Moods and Esteble all flexing their production chops. Each producer offers his own interpretation of Serotonin, by way of structural and melodic re-arrangements. Radiating from the eclectic re-interpretations, Serotonin Remix EP takes on the air of cohesive divergence.  The EP’s overall sound is solid and consistent, whilst sounds of individual tracks are deviations from one another. The heterogeneous styles of contributing producers induce a sense of musical adventure. A sensory trip, where the listener hears, feels and envisages familiar sensory patterns albeit each pattern being quiet unfamiliar.  As Oby Nine puts it “my idea for this EP is to create something that can help release serotonin in the brain of listeners”, that’s exactly what this EP has achieved.

Oby’s remix EP charts through UK garage, house, Brazilian bossa, groovy bass and crispy beats.  The elusive novelty realized by Serotonin Remix EP is its holistic sound. The manner by which it moulds various distinctive sounds into one “feel good” expedition. An expedition of the mind as variations of serotonin is released into the brain. 

Serotonin Remix EP is INI Movement’s 15th release out on all major online music platforms as of 20th January 2014.

Soundway's at it again! This time with a brand new album from South London's Huw Bennet under his newly established Susso alias. The New Keira LP features music which is inspired by (and directly samples) the magnificent sounds of the Mandinka people, which he recorded during a recent trip to Gambia.

The tracks are composed entirely from original source material, field recordings and Huw’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist; performing tuned percussion from the region including the Mandinka Balafon, Kutiringding drum, as well as drawing on his skill as a professional upright / electric bassist. One of the tracks which best exemplifies his contemporary electronic sound, whilst still paying homage to a traditional Gambian aesthetic has to be Ansumana. It's definitely been a shop favourite ever since the good guys at Soundway sent it over and we can't wait to get our hands on this beautiful release when it arrives next month. The fourth release on DISCOVERY Recordings comes from Analog Players Society, a melting pot of musicians led by Amon Drum at The Hook Studio in Brooklyn. 

Coule'Ba is a West African tune featuring the amazing vocal talent of Missia Saran Dibate of Guinea. We hoped to get it last year but the studio and surrounding area were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy (bitch). Amon and his fam spent the following months helping alongside the Red Hook Initiative with those even less fortunate in the area. By the time we got the record ready, it seemed only natural to donate the profits to the organization that did so much for Red Hook during that time.

500 copies, hand stamped bright red 7" vinyl - available late May.

San Francisco based Izzy Wise aka Isaac Weiser first started performing music in his Dad’s Klezmer band as a teenager. As the multi instrumentalist began learning new instruments and collecting records, so came the influx of different styles and cultures of music. Having played in many bands performing reggae, afrobeat, funk, rock, hip hop, klezmer, drum n bass, and latin styles this versatile performer began producing his own music and djing in 2007. Combining his knowledge of multiple instruments, sound reinforcement, and his love of mixing music from different cultures, we now have the electro world dub mashup that is izzy*wise’s music.

Isaac Weiser has played and collaborated with many different musicians and groups, and has a growing discography including 7 vinyl releases. Some notable groups are: LoCura, Lucky Brown and the Funk Revolution, Afrolicious, Pleasuremaker Band, Makru, Mophono Halftone Society, J Boogie, Nicodemus

He has also had the pleasure of opening for many heroes and talents including: Culture, Arrested Development, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Ocote Soul Sounds, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and many more!!
