Window

My sister Cindy wanted me to write music for her. It is becoming increasingly hard to play and that makes me sad.  I have lay so far back in my powerchair that I can't see the controls. I can't tolerate sitting up, it's too hard to breathe. Some days I can't even get out of bed.

My son attached a projector to my computer so my screen is now 6'x4', and I have a small keyboard I hold in my hand. So I try to keep up, but it takes much longer to do anything. ALS is not easy to deal with. It's important to stay positive and make good use of the time I have left.

More than a little indisposed, yet not fully out of service, there's always some great music to sing and play.

"Sotto le stelle del Jazz" was written by Paolo Conte in 1983, and released on his third eponymous album.

I will not try an English translation this time, cause the lyrics are full of allegories, and after all I'm not a poet :). Luckily there are some poets around on SC, and so very special thanks so to Michele Ansani (@michele-ansani check out his music) for providing both an English translation, and food for thought. Originally from Chicago, where I developed a strong appreciation for the blues and classical, and moved to New York, where jazz and the fine arts are so deep.
