It's Sunday and no time better for a little grooving...this one's a little soulful blues and the photo's from the greatest blues club of all, Chicago's Kingston Mines.  When you visit Chicago be sure to go at least one night.  Live blues on two rotating stages from 8p - 4a every night of the year.   And if you can play they often let you sit in.  People all over bringing instruments for late night action.  Named our newest dog Koko Taylor, who's photo in in the poster on the wall - the Queen of Chicago Blues.

My first track of the year in 2020; I had no idea how prophetic it would be.  We all lost loved ones or know someone whose loved ones perished in the pandemic (still ongoing) and the heart's cry was to have "one more day" to say what needed to be said, to give them a hug or a kiss, share a laugh or a tear; to give them a fond and fitting farewell.  Annie @annie-smart-1 added a lovely vocal and piano part to this song that lifts it to another level.

Special musicians contributed to this - two exceptional guitarists from the Philadelphia area - Audric Jankauskas and Stephan Lipinski, Barcelona's Sam Mendez on tenor sax, and Germany's Mirko Borach playing the beautiful fretless bass. Anyone wanna dance?  Joined here with Stringburner and Pinner on our funky original, Stay Low.  The right message for the time, with the worldwide social distancing and isolation priorities.  But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a solid groove.  This one reminds me of John Scofield's classic Uberjam.   As always, Mirko's bass is driving the bus, and Pinner just can't help himself, pushing it inside and outside and creating that infectious syncopated groove.  It's my 61st and 70th tunes with these special friends!

Reach For The Sky is one of those collaborations that brings it all together with great musicians and great friends.  A big project that in total was more than 1GB, this soulful original gives everyone a chance to make statements and a chance for some fine ensemble work too.  Scotland's highly versatile Annie Smart so emotionally adds her voice and harmonies, Germany's Georg Boehme is on Bari Sax on this track, and Spain's Sam Mendez plays the flute.  Both weave in and out between the vocals, and above the wonderful bass of Italy's Daniele Petrocchi.  And playing guitars is Daniele Turani, also of Italy.  Everyone's in such fine form and it all gels so beautifully.  Follow each of these great players and creators.
