Journeys is a mix series concept, which sees myself and a guest both deliver a 10 track warm up set and a 10 track peak time set, which are then intertwined as one comprehensive set. The concept allows guest DJs to express a personalised, diverse interpretation of trance music you’d hear both at the start and at the end of a night out at your favourite event. It also challenges me to select tracks which continue the flow of the set seamlessly and to tell a story, with the end goal of taking listeners….on a Journey.

A little bit about me.... 
I first started djing in the early 00's when my clubbing journey started. I spent a good few years away from the decks before refinding my love of it in the last couple of years. Most of my classics mixes are influenced from my clubbing days in Gatecrasher & Godskitchen. 004 sees DJ Aries take to the decks. A former clubgoer originally hailing from Leicester,  he frequented Superclubs such as Passion at The Emporium in Coalville and Godskitchen at CODE in Birmingham between 1998 - 2005. 

An amateur trance DJ in that time period utilising vinyl and CD's, DJ Aries played at various venues in the Midlands, until the mid 2000's. Now in his 50's, his love of trance music has never wained.

Since recently going full digital, he is now once again "spinning" some of his favourite tunes from a genre that took the world by storm.

We're up to 005 with the series. The guest this time is none other than Eddie Swales. Eddie Swales' passion is trance music. 2 years ago he took the plunge and took a keen interest in DJing. Eddie quickly realised from his impressive reach with his mixes and radio shows that he had discovered a raw talent and an outlet for his love for all things trance. With a substantial back catalogue of classics influenced from the Gatecrasher era of the late 90s and early 2000s, his style continues to evolve and incorporates tech trance and tracks from the modern day trance. With his sights set on entering the realms of production in the future, Eddie continues to express his love for our favourite genre via as many avenues as possible.

A Journey Into Trance Classics vol VII

After watching some of this years live coverage from Luminosity, it has made me want to look at some of the up to date trance tunes that I have sitting untouched in Rekordbox. So I have decided to dedicate a brand new series just for this purpose.

This series will span a wide spectrum of modern day trance. From its 130 BPM progressive grooves to it's more high energy, 140 BPM uplifting bangers.

Daz first became hooked on Dance music when it was at it's peak in the mid to late 90's. Purchasing his first Dance compilations, which lead him to discover a growing underground sound of Trance, from such compilations like Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky & The Euphoria series.

Daz then began his Journey into DJing, purchasing his first set of Turntables back in 2000. Daz's best memories are of frequenting various record stores, flicking through the shelves of Vinyl, exploring the sounds of Trance, House, Techno, Hard House. He then felt the need to improve his DJ skills and attended a DJ course, learning how to fine tune the skills he had learned. Lucky enough to have guest tutors such as the likes of Mark EG and Jerry from the Utah Saints. 

Having played gigs in various clubs and bars as a multi genre DJ, Daz then had to commit to new work responsibilities, and had to be quiet on the DJ front. After many years Daz then learned Digital mixing, and upgraded his DJ setup. Daz then began live streaming sets on Facebook for various radio stations and social media music groups, building up a following. Currently Daz is keen to return to the scene once again, and has had the opportunity to play gigs once again, and attend many Trance events. 

You can expect to hear New & Old Trance tracks in his sets, having a soft spot for Ambient, Progressive styles, which he strives to influence anyone he can into developing an admiration for the Genre, and loves nothing more than to share the music he loves to with anyone.
