Love songs in dance music are nothing new-- a ballad and a beat are a tried and true formula. For Fatherhood's first full release on Allergy Season, the pair turn in an EP of love songs dedicated to the one lover who never leaves you, food. Across "Big Boy", four joyous house cuts stand ready to brighten any dance floor or live-stream. 

The title track is presented in three ways, two tasty preparations by Fatherhood and a ready-to-eat edit by Physical Therapy. B-side "Food" is a pumping plate of disco-house.

Fatherhood is the pairing of Allergy Season label-head Physical Therapy and NYC luminary Michael Magnan, who have collaborated and DJ'd together for nearly a decade.

We were very surprised at Versatile when we received this file from Flocofloco2020@gmail.com. And we still have very little info on the track that was there. “On m’a dit…” by Floco Floco is a lofi afro-disco stomper hailing straight from the new ghettos created by confinement. Something had to give and we are glad that Floco Floco, whoever he is, has chosen us to ease his lock down mind:

“I’ve been told to stay at home, on WhatsApp all day long, working in the studio, reading books I haven’t read, I hope it won’t be too long, I don’t know if I can hold, smoking weed day & night, like never I have been before”

Not a message, just a statement (and a big phat groove).

FLOCO FLOCO.ON M'A DIT(EDIT VERSION)

This digital only release is a interpretation of the 1982 track Der Kanal from the German minimal wave band Heute. The lyrics are based on the work of undervalued French poet and writer Boris Vian, a controversial figure and existentialist avant la lettre. His work was characterized by embracing the absurd and surreal, whilst portraying a great sense of humor. The likes of Sartre, De Beauvoir, as well as Roald Dahl and Murukami are never far away. It’s cold and provocative, with a touch of nostalgia.

Martin Jenkins, more commonly known as the artist Pye Corner Audio, epitomizes Lapsus' commitment to cutting edge sound experimentation. In 2017, he beguiled the electronic music community by releasing the 'Where Things Are Hollow' EP, on Lapsus Records. Now we are delighted to announce the release of ‘Where Things Are Hollow 2’, consisting of three brand new original cuts and a breath-taking remix from none other than John Talabot.

'Where Things Are Hollow 2' explores a spectral and hypnagogic terrain, establishing an electronic sound that at times invokes Jenkins’ more dance friendly facet -'Self Synchronize', 'Weather The Storm'– while also offering his familiar iridescent dreamlike ambient textures –'Phase B'– that featured prominently on his first EP.

This second EP also includes a remix from John Talabot, unquestionably one of Spain’s most internationally recognised names over the last decade, who exquisitely reimagines 'Resist' -a song from the first EP-, transforming it into a cross between EBM and hypnotic techno.

From a graphic design perspective, renowned artists Alex Trochut and Basora have once again collaborated on this project, repeating the formula that made the artwork for "Where Things Are Hollow" such a collector's item.

Foom label head Benjamin Freeney reworks Tim Burgess & Peter Gordon's restless, psychedelic epic, "Temperature High" into three new forms (two cuts for the dancefloor, and one ambient interlude), rearranging the rich source material of the original (metallic field recordings from the New York subway, Peter Gordon's original Korg bassline reincarnated in sub-bass form, Tim Burgess' ethereal vocal cut-up into new patterns) and fusing it with new percussive and melodic elements. The original track was featured on Tim Burgess & Peter Gordon’s Same Language, Different Worlds album from 2016, with contributions from Arthur Russell's close collaborators Peter Zummo and Mustafa Ahmed, as well as Factory Floor’s Nik Void.
