This playlist is a sonic journey that stays on the more tame side with very expressive pieces that are piano dominated. 

The Acoustics start it off with a long journey of a song that is sparse and plays with a soundscape foundation with sparse elements that slowly evolve over and alongside hypnotic drums and chant like vocal parts.  Abrasive synths coming in and out add an element of surprise and urgency.

Next is Alec Tunks with a mystical, nocturne like tune that shows what power can emerge from simplicity. His composition echoes some of the classical greats like Chopin and Debussy and could definitely yank some tears out. Personally my favorite piano style and I could listen on repeat

third is one of my favorite songs on soundcloud which is Home by Skyline tigers. The loose kit sound creates a sparse groove that allows a swirl of piano and pads to accommodate Her gorgeous emotive voice that evokes nostalgia and comfort. She really did capture the bittersweet dichotomy of feeling perfectly safe and comfortable at home but also knowing it will never feel the same as it did when we were young and carefree.

Next track "the Pattern" words will never satisfy. The vocal Mix of SLT and Last relic is a thing to behold.  The lyrics along with *thommos* arrangement  create a quietly epic and melancholic commentary on the mysteriousness of the Universe and our journey through the seemingly infinite patterns we navigate to get closer to "heaven" and or the place of ultimate unity. (my personal take on it) The thing that stuck out to me was how well this song captured that grander story line that weaves in and out of our daily awareness and our own concerns about whether or not we are even on the right path.  When trying to find the correct word all I could think of was 'ineffable' and how well this song makes me ponder on the ineffable of the greater origins of this experience of life.

Next song "song 955" (WOW THATS A LOT OF SONGS) is a contemporary classical piece on the warm strings of a nylon string guitar. Classical elements on acoustic guitar warm the heart and sooth the soul. This particular piece calls to a lovely blue skied day but not without the memory of hardships and the pain experienced to arrive at a temporal bliss. Guillaume Lecointe skill is impossible to deny.

The Solar System is the gravitationally bound system of the Sun and the objects that orbit it. It formed 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud.  The four inner system planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars—are terrestrial planets, being composed primarily of rock and metal. The four giant planets of the outer system are substantially larger and more massive than the terrestrials. The two largest, Jupiter and Saturn, are gas giants, being composed mainly of hydrogen and helium; the next two, Uranus and Neptune, are ice giants, being composed mostly of volatile substances.  The orbits of the planets are ellipses with the Sun at one focus, though all except Mercury are very nearly circular. The orbits of the planets are all more or less in the same plane, called the ecliptic and defined by the plane of the Earth's orbit.  The orbits of the planets, based on Earth's 1 year orbit, are as follows: Mercury .24 years, Venus .61, Earth 1.00, Mars 1.88, Jupiter 11.86, Saturn 29.46, Uranus 84.01, Neptune 164.80, Pluto 248.80.  They all orbit in the same direction, counter-clockwise looking down from above the Sun’s north pole; all but Venus, Uranus and Pluto also rotate in that same sense. 
For alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet, metallophone, piano, bass, virtual instruments and percussion.

It's been a while since I posted my latest track, which in fact dated back to 20 years ago. I've been struggling with several issues, and sadly I haven't had many chances to record any new stuff, these latest months or years. This time I won't say things are going to get better in future, because I'm not so sure they will; still I really hope so.
This piece is about spiritual dawning.

Each winter here in the UK, small birds enact one of natures great spectacles. Each evening flocks ranging from a few hundred to over 100,000 individual Starlings form up into a single flowing entity swirling above their communal roosting sites. 
Why they do this is not fully understood, with theories ranging from a strategy to distract predators, to a grand display designed to draw more birds to the flock for the purpose of maximising the body heat being generated by the mass of the flock in the roost. 
Whatever the purpose of this behaviour it creates a unique and magical aerial display of great beauty.

The track began with the repeating mallet sequence, then the strings and lastly the piano. I'm finding myself increasingly drawn to improvising around basic chord progressions at the moment and this is another product of this approach. I'm  resisting the temptation to quantize or mess around with the midi in post, so it's all as played and of the moment.

Mysterious Piano song with an eerie vibe to it. 

Got inspired by looking at strange monuments like these standing stones and tried to catch the vibe i get from them.

This is a song I'm very proud of because it's a musical family photo of the first time my son Marshall and I ever played string instruments together. He had just turned 9, and had only been playing the fiddle for about two months. I told him to hit an open D and the E for four beats of two measures, only I didn't say it like that. I just played it for him and he was able to keep a good rhythm for about four minutes! Originally, this song was just him on violin and me on mandolin, but I went back and added some bass, too. I really hope you enjoy my Fathers Day treat. I told him I'd let him know how many people listened to it, and show him the comments. He's come a long way since then, about 7 months ago, but this recording is very special to me, and I really wanted to share it with my SoundCloud family. Thank you so much for giving it a listen, and happy Fathers Day to everyone who is or has a father!

It is fully remixed and equalized.

I have 7 new tracks, but due to the covid 19, I can't edit them properly in my "sound studio", which is no other than my car.
