This release is a little different from my usual line, results from an obvious folk influence and turns around quite dreamy lyrics and romantic musical arrangement. The mood of this song is about allowing yourself to imagine another life, feel another world, transform one another and, by embarking this imaginary journey, actually just to be. A 3:15 minutes glimpse to a lifetime voyage towards an untethered soul…

Realizing this song brought me a very nice surprise in the form of a pleasant new collaboration. The lyrics required a female voice and I had difficulties finding the ethereal but not immaterial one I had in mind. The challenge persisted for a couple of weeks until I got in touch with Hana Pavšič - the talented Slovenian artist who covered this song with her beautiful voice and brought the extra touch to it, giving it this enchanted atmosphere I was after for this Magic spell.

Josh had a grade which had John and Vic. John was a stereotypical Hollywood bully.  Josh:”he was an idiot.
Me: did you know that Vic used to give Swerlies? I didn’t even know what they were.
Swerlies are when you flush a kids head down a toilet.
Josh: he was a bigger idiot.

Then moving onto the grade below Josh which was my grade which had 006.  006 began causing teachers to cry as early as primary school in 芳草地。There was LX, a girl from HK who he tripped on the way to the blackboard. Her nose landed on the ridge of the incline and broke. So she had to go back to HK for reconstructive facial surgery. 006 tells me this story with a gleeful look on his face. Now you’re thinking he’s a sociopath. Then, he says, “that’s why I took it easy on her at 55.” I’m thinking “phew.” Then there was that time he made Starlight cry by putting his dick on her face while she was asleep. A typical day at 55 for 006 involved him coming up with new ways to trip people at lunch. A typical weekend for him involved him calling the girl with the best grades and asking her if she wanted to fuck him.  I started in class 3 which was mostly Korean. It’s the 3rd worst class out of 4. 

I learned quickly that I could tell jokes and make people laugh. We got along and they taught me swear words. The Koreans were a united front. Meaning, only them and the Mongolians ever did group stompings of people. We…the Chinese whatever…be it Chinese American or whatever or the groups that spoke English couldn’t unite to save…anything. I remember walking up the stairs one day and a group of Koreans were just kicking my friend while he was on the ground. My other friend and I just laughed at him and I asked, “what did you do to them?” For some reason I was never beat up or made fun of.

Closest was in grade 7 where the door locked and 2 Korean girls approached me. I thought I was gonna get snuffed until one of them started touching my face while the other tried removing my shirt. I just ran. Koreans all over the world: If we wanted to snuff you we’d send 10 guys and not 2 girls you moron.
So I got promoted to class 2. Was sad to leave my 2 English speaking friends in class 3. I was afraid. Class 2 was 006’s kingdom. He sat in the back and made fun of people all day long. It was the first time I had been in classes where a student had all the power. And…nothing happened to me. 10 years later, I asked him,
“Why’d you never pick on me?”
“因为你嘴太损了” (You were too snarky)
Class 2 had Starlight at the time and she went out with K, 006’s best friend. He broke up with her on Christmas. Then, he stood in front of 006’s desk and made 1 hand eat the other. “Her lips swallowed mine. It was gross.” Starlight sat a few desks to the right and overheard him and walked out the class. I remember thinking, “what an asshole.” Since, I was very much incapable of feeling sympathy for anyone save Starlight that was probably the moment I fell in love. We used to talk for hours on messenger after school.
Then onto class 1 so now it’s grade 8. I was sad to go. 006 did make me laugh all the time and I didn’t want to be stuck in a class full of nerds. I was the worst academically there and the homeroom teacher would say, “Chris. Not a single A.” What was amusing about that was the B in English. What was also amusing was during the school trip where he told the kid who was 2 years younger than all of us “to be more like Chris. People like him.” I was expecting him to tell me to be more like the other kid who was a straight A kid but the shoe never dropped. So onto what I did to kids. Miss steukenbergs English class. The teacher before her Mrs Smith gave me an A. She was firm but fair. Sent 006 out for not doing his homework. Then Miss Steukenberg showed up. 1 haiku poem each. I asked the class before it was due,”who wants their homework done for them?” Everyone said yes so I got to work changing cursive with print writing and different colors.

Wiki says that daydream is a fantasy that a person has while awake.

Daydreaming is the stream of consciousness that detaches from current external tasks when attention drifts to a more personal and internal direction. This phenomenon is common in people's daily life shown by a large-scale study in which participants spend 47% of their waking time on average on daydreaming . There are various names of this phenomenon including mind wandering, fantasy, spontaneous thoughts, etc. Daydreaming is the term used by Jerome L. Singer whose research programs laid the foundation for nearly all the subsequent research in this area today. The list of terminologies assigned by researchers today puts challenges on identifying the common features of the phenomenon, in this case daydreaming, and on building collective work among researchers.

There are many types of daydreams, and there is no consistent definition amongst psychologists, however the characteristic that is common to all forms of daydreaming meets the criteria for mild dissociation. Also, the impacts of different types of daydreams are not identical. While some are disruptive and deleterious, others may be beneficial in some way.

Yes, I'm daydreamer. For this track I used acoustic guitar, oboe and clarinet, upright and supplement it with glockenspiel.
