@mamasnake is at the heart of Copenhagen's blistering techno scene. She plays with a serious amount of speed and showcased that as far back as 2018 when she played for Boiler Room at our Amsterdam festival. But she is also a qualified surgeon, co-founder of Amniote Editions and curator who oversees the release of music, posters, videos and t-shirts. She prefers to keep a low profile and operate in darkened spaces at the dead of night, but with her at the controls, there is no finer place to be. 

Mama Snake's supple and sublime sound is a mix of sleek techno and uplifting trance. She plays with a tight and technical mixing style and can make you fall in love with tracks you didn't even know you liked. On this week's mix, she charges through kinetic beats and slithering synths that never let up, but never get stuck in a rut. Luxembourg’s Ogazón (of Nathalie Ogazón Faber) followed her studies to the Netherlands and fell deep down the rabbit hole of Amsterdam nightlife, Trouw she recounts as transformative. Enough so that she followed that thread starting in the mid 2010s as neophyte DJ before upping sticks for Berlin a few years later. There, her passion for digging and upbeat outlook landed her in Ryan Elliot’s sights, a partnership that’s taken B2B form on more than a few occasions and led to further work with fellow blue chipper Marcel Dettmann (she signed to his agency in 2023). These days Ogazón’s sound is spreading to the pace of its rapid tempo, and her schedule’s all the more punishing for it. Dekmantel, Awakenings, DGTL, Berghain, Robert Johnson, the list gets longer. Refusing trivial categorisations, her work pivots between groovy house and austere techno, bringing together various influences (the ambient inclinations of Sofia Coppola she also cites) and keeping her vision broad. For Bassiani Podcast 241 she errs on the side of techno, delivering a profound two-hour mix that marches unrepentantly forward, zipping from ascetic track to track and building an atmosphere thick with subtle detail. This is deep, utilitarian techno for unsettled times and Ogazón leads the way.

Last year, on November 30th, Fuse welcomed Denmark's Mama Snake to our control room in light of her Amniote Editions night.  With an untamed aura spreading through the space, the dark hours were marked by hypnotic, slightly mental, and utterly intense temperaments.

Snapping between writhing acid lines, crisp tribal rhythms, and trance-laced techno, her selections struck a perfect balance between the meditative and the manic. The floor was hers: fluid, fierce, and full of intent. A reminder that mastery doesn’t always shout; it listens, reacts, and dares to draw outside the lines when the need knocks.

Next up is Paulo Tessuto, who signs for the 4th Dekmantel Festival São Paulo 2017 podcast on his birthday. Tessuto is a known as a true selector, with his sets being always full of energy. As a central figure in Sao Paulo’s music scene, he organizes his own event Capslock and played two Gop Tun events over the years whilst setting dance floors on pure fire. Glad to invite this talented Brazilian to Dekmantel Festival São Paulo in February. Happy birthday, Paulo!

Hey everyone, here is my Acid House Hot Mix! 2017

Since 2017 is the 30th anniversary of the genre that pretty much got me into house and techno, I recorded a 3 hour all Acid House DJ Mix. I've been planning this for months, and luckily with the holidays, I had some free time to finally do it! I went through all my records, old and new, and selected roughly 40 of my favorite 303 inspired jams!!

Acid house is of course a sub-genre of house music developed around 1987 in Chicago. As most of you already know, I am a student of the game, and I absolutely love many different types of underground dance music. Everything from soulful deep house and disco all the way to proper detroit techno, but if there is one thing that always gets me, it's the Silver Box!!!

Acid House Hot Mix! 2017

Lobster's back for 2017! Kicking off the year with more new artists and heading off on a more electro-leaning non-4/4 slant as we emerge from the dowdy winter months. 

Having previous released on one of our very favourite labels, Frustrated Funk, as well as the killer Brokntoys imprint, ITPDWIP has proven to be one of the more exciting yet elusive names coming through the last couple of years. 

Eye Can See The Darkness (In The End Of The Tunnel) is a shot of light in the dark cavern of a broken heart. Blinded By The Lights rips apart the heart-string orchestra rather than just pulling on the strings. A love ballad lost in the haze of the mid-summer, faded to blue and repackaged as a gentle and tender winter anthem. Sharing the A-side with the lucid dreaming of Jeremiah R on the drum-heavy remix. 

On the flip, I Am Not Him is a filter-squelching, bass-slapping meander into green haze territory, that finally erupts into a swagger of familiar Detroit-channeled drums and steady faded pads. Outernet grumbles up the black-hole cosmic radiation with an industrial-tinged number that plunges the depths of deep-space. Proper growling and clanging synths to add the right amount of raw, just at the end.
