The lighthearted play between the voices at the beginning set a very pleasant mood. I am listening a second time as I type this, thinking about your title "Backwards Moviments", and how it ties to the music. At this point as I type, it is near the middle, and I love all of the activity. Now at 5+ minutes, the flute reminds me of a bird, and maybe some scuffle. I am sure this is not your purpose of the piece, but I am enjoying it. Beautiful Work Luigi!

I returned to the ice I recorded in 2013 and approached it… differently. I put it through the Mangle, then chopped up the result, reversed and muti-tracked it a number of times and downpitched some by several octaves, boosting the bass as well as stretching some sections to create drones.

Then did it all over again and added it to the mix, with a dash of crème de menthe and a shot of Talliskers. I wish…

A work for voice, flute, piano, viola, singing bowls, cymbal, and sticks.  The music for Flute in C is composed by Martijn Schröder: the concluding music for Alto Flute is by Melvyn Cann.  The first piano improvisation is by Martijn: the second by Melvyn. These two improvisations are joined seamlessly by a quiet interlude from Martijn.  Whilst Martijn plays, Melvyn improvises also on viola. The voice is Melvyn's. The exquisite flute playing is by Johanna Selleck.  Johanna participates on percussion in the improvisations for singing bowls, cymbal and sticks. Other improvisers are Thamas Buchan with his three daughters, Sapphire, Margaret and Beryl, and David Mollison. A team of eight altogether. David appeared at the last minute. I was deeply touched.  I had taught David the violin nearly sixty years earlier. This performance had considerable impact on the day, but it has been polished up and brought to much greater level of balance, clarity and brilliance through the arts of my devoted sound engineer, Dr Michael Hill. This piece has been referred to as "Dyslexic Wild God". Dyslexic. or not, is a tribute to Nick Cave, and to his song "Wild God". He and I inhabit seemingly different musical worlds, but I am much nourished by his work, especially by "The Red Hand Files". Thank you, Nick!

What I wrote below was heart felt but presumptuous and pretentious.  I would have to not be stupid myself to be allowed to claim such a thing.  More importantly though, I don't believe it is correct or accurate.  These people are probably not stupid but just don't care.  Justice is a collective thing and many if not most people seem to live in bubbles.  It is perhaps economic oppression which is responsible, they just don't have the resources, the time, the energy to be concerned about what lies behond that bubble.  It used to be fine but there's this thing they call globalization which makes this increasingly impractical or impossible.

mid January 2024:
Justice and vengeance are not the same.  Apparently most people are too stupid to see the difference.  Unfortunately it is not something unique to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and not unique to group conflicts.

What happened to intelligence?  Aren't we supposed to be the "intelligent" specie.
