AFAR - Live At Fusion Festival 2024

recorded live at camp kennybrook in monticello ny from 3am to just after 7am on Kiddo's birthday to greet the sunrise and close out what turned out to be a killer night of Friday (the 13th) programming that we lovingly curated (feat. our friends and yours POSI-TRACK, Rachel Noon, and Purelink) for the debut of the new and improved Bossa Lounge at Sustain-Release Year 10 (2024).

curatorially, we imagined the room to be an affirmation of the aesthetic wonders and general badassery of LOUNGE as not only a tragically overlooked piece of the electronic music history puzzle but also a vastly under-appreciated form of rave-adjacent social practice. 

conceptually, this mix builds upon and extends the project of sonic-affective worldmaking that was initiated and established by our previous performances at S-R (years 4 & 5). regardless of genre, playing at sustain is always an opportunity to focus on cherishing the juicy site-specificity of listening to psychedelic music in nature with your friends, and the rare forms of potentiality held therein. 

this time, we chose to allow the form of the set to be organically guided by the concept of THE FOUR ELEMENTS. dynamically following the progression WATER • EARTH • FIRE • AIR the set prioritizes and performs an ethos of maximal transport, simultaneously journeying inwards, onwards, upwards, and outwards. 

we really put a lot into this one, and sincerely hope you enjoy the ride!

The twelve-track album big bang of determined self-producing Swiss autocrat Kate Wax's dark electronic musical universe was mixed in sensitive harmony with new friend James Holden in his London studio, following which James seized upon the parts stashed on his hard drive to string two of the most club-friendly album cuts out into the dancefloor-optimised vinyl-only hedonistic symphonies you see before you.

Noods Radio - Aurora Halal [12.2020]. drum n bass mix

In her artistic practice she deals with the acoustic nature of our everyday environment. The characteristic, rather inconspicuous sound signature of places and circumstances is investigated, analyzed and reinterpreted compositionally. She works mainly in the field of sound ecology with field and soundscape recordings from urban environments and biodiversity. In her projects she explores the spatial dimension of sound. From this emerge multi-channel compositions, which are shown as individual pieces, or as sculptural, interactive or multi-media installations. 

Her works were shown in 2022 at Ars Electronica in Linz (A), at Open Garden in Salzburg (A), as well as in 2020 as part of the Art Week for Climate Protection at GEDOK in Karlsruhe (D) and in 2015 during the ZeitRäume Festival in Basel (CH). Her latest works will be showed in 2023 at the Kunsthaus Pasquart in Biel (CH) at the Sonic Matter Festival in Zurich (CH) and at Ars Electronica in Linz (A).
