The sound breaks up into fragments and from the fragments new sounds are reconstructed in a rhizomatic progression, as a living matter that takes on its own individuality and rapidly dissolves in the general form of the composition.

A fragment of farewell.
A voice suspended between presence and absence, between memory and disappearance. Like a turning point, the piece moves through a state of transition, where something comes to an end, and something else begins, uncertainly. Flute and double bass chase each other, touch, and imitate one another. Two distant registers searching for common ground, as if the sound could strive toward a single breath.
A dialogue of distances that stretch and contract, in a fragile but ever-moving balance.

Frammento [94] - (2025) - for flute and double bass

The twentieth century gave us to ability to dislocate sounds in time as well as in space. Especially invention of digital processing skills facilitated ‘Schizophonia’ which means separation between an original sound and its electroacoustical reproduction named by R.Murray Schaffer. In this context, this piece ‘Habits of 0&1’ reflects the Schizophonia in order to represent the invisible digital relationship including conversations in our isolated daily life. By means of delay feedback and panning effect, tiny grains of sound components describes the auditory realization of fragmentary ‘communications’ with conversations which are separated and disconnected each other easily, like ‘0 and 1(off & on)’. Its basic idea was inspired by Georges Aperghis’s piece “Retrouvailles” which contains various metaphors for communication through the two men’s body action and voice performance. This work reminded me of ‘pingpong’ game between two people with small talk and jokes. Depending on development of pingpong ball sound transformation, this piece has narrative arcs which are linked in a mixed form of fragmented components and played with the ground voice modulated by using Audiosculpt. In the process of finding ‘breakthrough’ of conversations, the first and the last parts of this piece form symmetrical structure with respect to stationery sounds.

Matteo Tundo is an Italian composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. His compositional research focuses on the perception and cognition of sound events, investigating the neural mechanisms underlying the signification of sound. His work centers on the integration of neuroaesthetics into musical composition, employing innovative technologies to enhance the listener’s perceptual engagement and sensory experience.
After his initial guitar studies, he devoted himself entirely to composition and new technologies, studying at the conservatories of Florence, Parma, and Lugano, and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He studied composition with Ivan Fedele, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Javier Torres Maldonado, and Nadir Vassena, and electronic music with Marco Ligabue, Alfonso Belfiore and Michelangelo Lupone. He also attended specialized courses with Salvatore Sciarrino, Yan Maresz, Beat Furrer, Franck Bedrossian, Marco Stroppa, Mark Andre and others. 
In 2024 he was composer in residence for the Divertimento Ensemble. In the same year, together with guitarist Pierpaolo Dinapoli, he founded the h[t] DUO, a guitar and live electronics duo, for which he is active as an electroacoustic performer
His compositions have been performed in Italy, Germany, England, Portugal, France, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, United States, Iran, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia. He has participated as composer in international festivals.
He teaches computer music at the Conservatory of Brescia, Italy. After his initial guitar studies, he devoted himself entirely to composition and new technologies, studying at the conservatories of Florence, Parma, and Lugano, and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
