Hi, I've been DJ'ng between Ontario and BC since 2004. Over this time I've held various residencies in Ontario as well as organizing and promoting events under the brand "Release"

In Vancouver,  I am a proud supporter of our local underground music scene and am actively seeking opportunities to assist with production and participation.  

My early days were rooted in early 2000's progressive house/breaks. While in the last decade my flavors have shifted towards more bass focused and syncopated styles. I am a strong proponent of sound system culture and the genres that support it.

Neo¹ is a rare breed of DJ who has been championing the Speed Garage sound since the summer of '99, bringing over 25 years of bassline knowledge to every set. Based on Vancouver Island, Neo¹'s unique craft fuses his signature Garage sound with a range of genres, from Bass House, Jackin' House, 2-Step, Breaks, Trap, Bassline House, and UK 4x4. Known for his electrifying stage presence and radical loving energy, he animates dancefloors with bass-heavy sets that are as fun as they are fierce.

The night that Neo fell in love with speed garage with its pounding shuffly beats and warping and dirty basslines was a night back in 1998 when he witnessed Dave Armstrong and Norrie Taylor (Prime & Seven) play a tag set, totally destroying the dancefloor with basslines. He knew at that moment that he wanted to be a part of the scene on the other side of the turntables, packing dancefloors, interacting and hyping up the crowd into a frenzy. Intrigued by this original 'new' sound, Neo and a couple of friends decided to get a pair of old turntables and a 2 ch. mixer with no eq. and started playing around with a few different genres including speed garage, house, breaks, hip-hop, hardhouse and trance.
Most of Neo's first gigs were playing up and down Vancouver Island at raves, house parties and nightclubs such as Hush, Sweetwaters and The Press Room to name a few. Through his career Neo has found himself dj'ing as far as clubs in Colorado and Las Vegas, Full Moon parties in Thailand and jungle parties in Cambodia.

For several years (00-03) he was throwing renegade parties and the occasional club night under the names Vintage Prod. and DavisHouse Prod. 
Since his premier release "Destination EP" debuted on Atomic Zoo Recordings (Calgary) in 2010 Neo has worked with several other labels including Backzide Records (San Francisco), Bass Hound Records (Seattle), Breakz R Boss (Calgary) and Bass Bong Records (Vancouver). Currently he is working on several projects for D-Blok Studios (Duncan, BC.), Atomic Zoo, Bass Bong and most recently Urban Sprawl Records (Sheffield, UK). Not only does Neo specialize in deep rollin' n warpin' basslines, he is also fond to breaks, garage, 2-step, 4x4, bassline house and jackin' house. He also produces under the aliases of 'Totally' and 'Funk'n Ruff' with fellow Canadian bad bwoy Brent 'd-Set' Kral. Together they produce speed garage, bassline house and bassline breaks.

Now with over 23 years of bassline knowledge behind him, come out and witness Neo with his extreme energy and stage presence animating dancefloors all across the Western Continent! Known in the music world as Rara Avis (n. latin for Rare Bird), Alex is a dedicated master of his craft with over 20 years experience in live performance and music production with a core focus on where the electronic underground, yoga and ecstatic dance movements collide. 

He is also CEO and Co-Founder of YogiTunes.com, a world wide streaming and download service that focuses on delivering top quality sound tracks for yoga and other wellness activities.

He has been in long time collaboration with Craig Kohland and Amani Friend on the Shamans Dream and Desert Dwellers/Liquid Bloom projects respectively. Together they created one of the most widely used contemporary yoga music libraries ever. Rara is also CEO and Founder of Yogi Tunes, an world wide online music service that provides top quality DJ driven soundtracks for yoga and other wellness activities.

Rara’s live sets are a mixture of guitar, vocals, and dj techniques that combine pre-produced original studio music with live electronic elements to create a truly original, shamanic, heart felt transmission of music for embodiment.
