Warm look from the past

I created this track by improvising on a Gibson SG over three variations of a drum pattern. I produced the drums using custom sounds I made on the AKAI MPC Live and the Teenage Engineering PO-32. I also played the bass part on a Sire J7—my marvelous fretless bass.

“Nobody’s Groovy Anymore” is a sprawling seven-minute epic from Icelandic post-rock collective Laxá & Heima Kvartett, teetering on the edge of prog. The track builds from a foundation of shimmering guitars and insistent pizzicato strings, anchored by Bjarne Guðjohnsen’s thunderous dub-tinged basslines.
