This week we are joined by Dutch duo, Fouk, whose house and disco infused sound has proven to be very infectious across the dance scene.

Since signing to Dam Swindle’s label, Heist and releasing Kill Frenzy EP, the pair rapidly cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They have provided remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak, Groove Armada, and Joey Negro’s The Sunburst Band.

The duo, who have played all over the world, have recently returned to Heist Recordings for their summer-ready release, Blue Steel EP.

Always looking forward but never forgetting the past we bring you the best in contemporary house and disco. This is Future Disco.

Future Disco Radio - 096 - Fouk Guest Mix

Gina Sabatini is one of the best known for her hypnotic downbeat and slow-house sets. Coming from a diverse music background, her passion has always been the dancefloor. As a passionate dancer before she started DJing in Berlin, Gina immersed herself in growing a loyal wide audience and keeping listeners on many sweet places engaged with her aesthetic of the slower side of underground dance music. Gina tells melodic, deep stories and her devotion to the music speaks through her captivating and powerful sets, but it's all about the groove, when she’s dropping some low-tempo-deep-house-joints. After 10 years in Germany's capital, Gina moved to her new adopted city Leipzig to start a club project with two of her best friends - ost:end is the lived utopia of many different cultural workers, curators, producers and DJs.

I played this set at our first ost:end open air on a warm summer night in June 2021 in Leipzig. After three hard lockdowns, finally we could do what we love again - create parties in sound and vision. For me it was the first time playing in front of an audience for months and I could finally share the music I love with other people on a great sound system. That was such a big experience for me. For this gig I wanted to mix tracks that got me through these crazy times and remind me of my musical roots - bouncy house music.

I've been very busy these last few weeks with multiple projects. I did not have time to record a new show this week so instead I am posting a live set I did this summer for a private event for a company called SACO in New York City. The audience was very diverse so I kept the music light and mid-tempo with a lot of edits that they would recognize. Apologies for the roughness in the first few mixes but I had monitor issues. Once they fixed it it went smooth as butter :) Hey, it's live.

This is only two and half hours of the 6 hour (!) set I did. Maybe in the future I will post the rest. Next week we return with a special guest from Miami.

Media Blackout all-star ‘Medsound' returns with his latest smash ‘Moving Right' featuring the deliciously voice of Dana Jean Phoenix who makes her debut on the label. The Barcelona based enigmatic Medsound has been a regular in many top artist playlists, constantly showcasing his huge originality and versatility without ever disappointing. 

Russian master of the cool beat ‘Alex Hook' is another making his debut on Media Blackout with his incredible rendition of ‘Moving Right'. Alex's affair with sound "through heart, hands and computer tools" has led to a raft of successful releases and remixes, and this is no exception. With recently occupying the number 1 spot on Beatport he truly lets his talent shine thru with his rendition of 'Moving Right'. Part deep nu disco, part driving four to the floor house; his remix of is ode to house music that creates a mood that's perfect for any dance-floor. Stunning stuff! 

The second remix comes from none other than British sound maestro Ben Macklin, who besides is well known persona is a true master of the craft. He drops a stunning remix of ‘Moving Right'; a modern beach house jam with all the right elements. The bouncy bass and great synth arrangements create a sexy, provocative atmosphere while Dana's voice make words settle in truly magical fashion, creating a warm felt atmosphere that creates special memories every time you listen to it.

French sound genius Juloboy, famed for his body moving beats and immense production skills, delivers a remix that dives into more calm territory with lots of euphoric vibes and a beautiful Spanish guitar that builds the main focal point of his stunning rework. The luscious use of the vocals, bass stabs and driving drums make for an irresistible rhythm while the clever chords round off these fantastic interpretations.

Last but not least we have Media Blackout favourite Rafael Lambert who's remix focuses on the melodic side, by cleverly chopping the beats and vocal for the opening part oft he track to create a moody and emotional vibe, which in combination with some swinging drums half way thru establishes so much positive energy that it takes you right to any happening beach house club at sunset in the world, emphasizing the vast musical spectrum this release has on offer.

This is more then a mix! It's also a personal statement from a simple dj to all labels and copyright enforcers.
To be clear this is not youtube's fault:
- Lately youtube managed to show how monetization can be profitable for the artists and the labels.
- Many that could see that this is good and profitable (as opposed to negative) are now receiving profits that otherwise they would never get.
- The label and the artist can get more money for their work, not only limited to album sales, monetizing mixes on youtube - and other platforms - can be an all new cascade of revenue.

Sadly some labels still live in the past and enforce a negative policy of blocking all their signed artists worldwide!
I wish this mix can bring some awareness, to that labels and their enforcers:
- enforce monetizing, protect musicians but give'm a voice on the world wide web!

Still, if you are the label or the artist and want your tune out of this mix just let me know and i'll take the mix down!

Last, a message to all my fellow dj's:
- When doing a mix please take the time to give the proper credits to the artists, by means of a simple tracklist.
If you don't do this you are not promoting the artists and the labels, you are only promoting yourself!

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base.
