I started this piece a few years ago, and Doina was kind enough to write some beautiful violin parts for what is quite a simple chord progression really. I didn’t have lyrics and life events overtook writing music. I picked it up recently wanting to mark that life event, and an upcoming crossroad.

“This is a tribute to Def Leppard and the KERRANG! guitar driven radio hits I grew up on. I am talking “Rocket”, “Let’s Get Rocked” “Teenage Dirtbag”, “Beverly Hills”, “Stacy’s Mom”, “She Hates Me”. My idea was to twist the Summer anthem and create something epic and fun for the stay at home Rockers - complete with Def Leppard inspired gang vocals and a space station communication loop and 90’s/00’s overdrive drenched guitar fizz. I revisited this session from 2023 so I could use my ever developing skills to add more joy, energy and excitement to the mix. To my ear it is now even more of an anthem than ever before. PLAY LOUD. Sailing Away

This song was written for my beautiful wife Anita shortly after we both met. One of many I've written her, she is after all the love of my life. She put an end to that crazy mid-life crisis I was struggling with for 6 years! I really like this ballad and I re-recorded it this year and wanted Charlie to sing it but he cancelled out on several occasions for personal reasons, so I went ahead and sang it myself, I guess I should have waited!  (please forgive my awful vocals and harms!). It's a very basic and raw song and I didn't record a lot of instruments and I didn't do a lot of overdubs, maybe I should have, maybe a piano or some more strings would have helped it a bit. It's one of my favorite love songs that I have written and it's very personal, both lyrics and medley came to me rather easily and quickly, maybe an hour at most! Those are the best, the ones that come to you without you even having to think about it, they come straight from the heart.

The video is brand new and I had a lot of fun putting it together. I worked for several days on it. I hope everyone enjoys it and just in case anybody doesn't already know, my wife is "More Than Wonderful!"😂 I know a lot of people won't appreciate this song but it means the world to me! Close to my heart is raising awareness of the chronically painful genetic connective tissue disorder HEDS (Hyper-Mobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) to encourage recognition and a deeper understanding of the condition; that no two people with HEDS are identical and live with different symptoms, types and experiences.
