Niche Crush are Ollie & Loz. a Manc and a Scouser now living by the sea in Margate. They formed in late 2021 after drinking too many bottles of orange WKD and deciding it would be a good idea to start a band and play a gig at a spoken word event in Merthyr Tydfil, in Wales. We don’t know why or how this was allowed to happen but it did, the gig went well and they got asked back to do another one! They quite like Merthyr Tydfil and the people of Merthyr Tydfil seemed to like them too. Buoyed on by these rather successful, but rather ill advised gigs (Merthyr Tydfil is a long, long way from Margate), they’ve since been busy sat in a bedroom in Margate drinking more orange WKD, writing and recording music and this summer saw them play a whole host of gigs outside of Wales including London, Manchester and numerous shows in Margate.

They have about 48 songs so far, and yes, they are all named after people. People they love, people they hate, some are real and some are fake. It’s probably a bad idea to start a new band with such a silly concept but hey, why not?

Every Text Is A Little Letter is a collection of 3 of those songs and is the band’s first offering to the world after much procrastination. All recorded in their bedroom and we think it sounds boss!

Simon is about a chap called Simon and is based on teenage lyrics found in the loft. Romeo is named after Romeo Stodart off of the Magic Numbers but has nothing to do with him, they just liked the name. Gareth is actually about their friend Gareth, he’s actually a lovely chap and frankly they’re really worried about him ever hearing it…

What does the future hold for Niche Crush? We’re guessing 2024 will see more more orange WKD drunk, more songs written, recorded and released. They're busy booking more gigs atm and finishing up the mixes of EP2 and EP3!

Oh and ideally they’d like someone to like them, give them gigs, play them on radio and then get a massive fuck off (or even a teeny weeny) record deal, failing that some free bottles of orange WKD would be nice…

Wow! So 5 weeks ago we decided got start dropping a new track on our Soundcloud every Monday. This is now the 5th song we’re putting out into the world and we’re going to keep going until Christmas! 

Yes we have a Christmas song too but you’ll have to wait for that…

‘Rob’ is one of the first songs we ever wrote and has been the opening track for all our live shows ever since. It’s got louder and dirtier since we first started playing it and we love it! One day we’ll get to record it in a proper studio rather than our bedroom but hey ho!

Is it actually about Rob Lowe? Well that’s for you to decide!
