Michael Sahpé

Sahpé is a multi-instrumentalist musician, DJ, and maker of playful sounds that draw inspiration from ambient, synth-pop, and various forms of club music. Known for his melodic productions with an emotional touch, his music is heavily influenced by a hybrid of synths, electronics, and club culture. Combining his in-depth classical musical training, his sound palette is tempered by a vivacious charge and self-disciplined approach to composition.

Michael has been releasing under aliases “Sahpé” (house, tech house), “Forgetting Factor” (chillout), and “mikaelantony” (electro, acid, techno), on labels like Preset, In Fact, Arabica, Avatara, Angry Monkey, Dobara, Baroque Music, People Of The Light (POTL), Love International, Felt Records, and with more releases soon!

Sahpé has a long-standing run as a skilful DJ in various clubs in the UK (like Café 1001/Werkhaus and Corsica Studios), France, and Greece, as well as a 2-year stint on London’s Hoxton FM and a current radio show on Aaja Music. Sahpé’s DJ sets tap into club-intelligent music and blend cross-genre gems with unexpected flashbacks that take diverse cues; from sunny tribal house to tech-house and underground minimal, to electro and techno when the crowd craves it.

Ross Harper has an infectious love of music.

Harper’s productions are rich and varied. 

Harper’s LP, The Dark Album made the front cover of Mixmag, a feature in Decoded Mag, had plays from Richie Hawtin and Charlotte de Witte called it “beautiful”. 

Meanwhile, Harper’s Ambient Girl series explores downtempo and has seen support from Cici, Lemonella and Ben Malone on Kiss FM. In Your Eyes e-zine dubbed it as “strong candidate for electronic album of the year”. 

Earlier Ross Harper’s works have been supported by industry legends like Laurent Garner, Martin L Gore of Depeche Mode and Nemone on BBC Radio 6.

Ross is also founding father of City Wall Records, where his A&R skills have signed tracks played in numerous Boiler Room sets including SNTS at Kompass and Ancient Methods in Berlin.

Harper presents a monthly two hour show on AAJA on the fourth Monday of every month at 1800hrs where he shares a plethora of cutting edge new underground releases.

Harper also holds weekly residency on @aajaradio every Friday from 1000hrs GMT with “The Morning After Show”.

Aaja is a multi-purpose community radio station, event space and bar. Situated along Deptford High Street, the local cultural hub hosts an eclectic mix of radio hosts, DJs and events. Open since 2018, Aaja has provided a space that has nurtured and aided the growth of creative minds and groups within South-East London and beyond.
