Day of Hope

I created this track by improvising on a Gibson SG over three variations of a drum pattern. I produced the drums using custom sounds I made on the AKAI MPC Live and the Teenage Engineering PO-32. I also played the bass part on a Sire J7—my marvelous fretless bass.

This song was composed in memory of my little girl, who passed away a year ago. It's a tribute filled with love and nostalgia, a musical offering that seeks to embrace her memory. The melody is built on soft melodic pianos and enveloping guitars, accompanied by harmonious synthesizers that create an ethereal atmosphere. The sounds of the sea and the songs of sirens emerge like echoes of the soul, representing a bridge between this world and hers. Each note is a caress, each chord a tear turned into light. It's a farewell that refuses to relent, a whisper to heaven that says, "You'll always be with me."

The lyrics balance instruction and inspiration, inviting listeners to reflect, grow, and move forward. There was a lot of emotion in me that needed to come out.  I could either cry or write music.  So I did both - at the same time -  and this was the result.

Closing out the Jaded album, The Gods Don’t Hear Me Anymore is a stark, emotional reckoning—part confession, part lament, part protest. Over a raw acoustic guitar in open tuning (DADEAD), The Guitars Say Sorry delivers a song that feels like it was written under a flickering streetlight in the early hours, alone but overheard.

The lyrics drift between the personal and political: forgotten memories, absent gods, the weight of family history, and the ache of disappointment in the world around us. “Tears come easy when you're young / And you don't know where you've come from” sets the tone—disillusionment framed by a search for meaning, identity, and connection. There’s resignation in the refrain, “The gods don't hear me anymore,” but also an undercurrent of defiance: “I carefully chose my enemies.”

Sparse, honest, and lyrically pointed, The Gods Don’t Hear Me Anymore is a fitting end to Jaded—a quiet anthem for those still standing in the ruins, asking questions no one seems willing to answer.
