DJ Icey developed his passion for the beat by his steady diet of Miami Bass, 90s Hip Hop, Freestyle and Acid House back in the day. On the strength of his late 90s singles and album output, championed by DJs the world over. Icey burst onto the global scene with his award-winning Essential Mix compilation released on FFRR in 2000. This Breakbeat legend's dedication to DJ'ing and Producing has earned him high acclaim from music fans to industry professionals.
Icey’s trademark sound of bass and beats has sound tracked dance floors worldwide. His indie label Zone Records is a top player in the worldwide Booty Bass / Breaks scene. As a producer, Hexadecimal rose to fame when his remix of Sound Alliance “The Hit” appeared on James Zabiela’s 2002 debut mix compilation “GTDJ” and ground-breaking debut single “Brain Machine” ascended to the top of the DJ Magazine Breaks & Beats Chart. 

The Plump DJ’s featured his remix of Sound Alliance “From Home” on their critically acclaimed Fabric Live compilation in 2003, and Distinctive Records have brought his music to the masses releasing his debut album “Base 16” and follow up “Reform/Restore”.  These releases have been interspersed with various singles, remixes, EPs, and mix compilations. 

His decades long success as a producer and global breaks DJ combined with becoming the progenitor of the largest continuous breakbeat event on the planet make Hexadecimal undoubtedly one of the most influential artists in the scene.

Sydney-based, British born DJ, D-Funk has amassed a fair few achievements in his 25-years on the decks. Making his club debut at The Depot in Bristol in 1995, he’s gone on to DJ all over the world, playing notable sets at Space Ibiza and Ministry Of Sound and released on labels including Sunday Best and Bombstrikes. 

Getting his first set of decks at 14, Doug initially fell for the sounds of jungle and techno before a night dancing to house icon Tony De Vit in 1997 turned him towards the slinkier sounds of house music. 

His DJ career began to take off during his time at university in Wolverhampton where he started to pick up gigs at the Canal Club and Mezzanine, playing alongside DJs including Joey Negro, Mr Fingers, Scott Bond and Lisa Lashes, before a move to the South-Coast town of Bournemouth led him to eventually start his own night ‘Break Da House’ in 2004. 

The night took off, attracting big names including The Stanton Warriors and Plump DJs and eventually led to D-Funk’s first release, the ‘Electrotek’ EP after Dub Pistols headlined one night and Barry Ashworth from the band decided to release Doug’s music on his Westway label. The track found its way onto a TV ad in Portugal, as well as becoming a mainstay on Kiss FM’s breakbeat chart and gave Doug the confidence to pursue a career as a producer as well as a DJ, eventually leading to releases on Adapted Records and Ghetto Funk among countless other labels over the next 15 years. 

Moving to Sydney Australia in 2009, Doug started his label Upstart Music, releasing his own productions alongside tracks from the likes of Crackerz & Jam, Niko & Lyall and Rogue Robot and later started the funk label Grits N Gravy alongside friend and funk producer Philly Blunt, with the label winning the ‘Best Label’ award at Perth Dance Music Awards in 2010. 

Since living in Sydney, Doug has held down residencies at The World Bar and The Standard/Middlebar for the best part of a decade, as well as regular slots at Sash, Ivy, Goros, Hugos and many others. He’s played events for high profile companies such as Blackberry, Telstra, Jagermeister,  Sydney Cricket Ground & Saatchi & Saatchi. But there was still demand for him back on the side of the world and he regularly returned to Europe to play at Space Ibiza (including a set at the penultimate night of Carl Cox’s Revolution party) as well as touring in the UK, Europe, Asia and Canada. 

Now 25 years into his career, Doug is about to mark the 10th anniversary of his label Grits ‘N’ Gravy, with a compilation due this year mixed by himself and Philly Blunt, and has been busy producing house, hip hop and nu-disco with his current production partner Mr Doris.

I created this page for the posting of older Breaks DJ mixes. It is not intended to infringe anybody's copyright as an artist or owner of the mixes, just a place to share some of the best and rarest Breakbeat DJ Mixes from yesteryear.

Coming out of Washington DC, is Breaks / Bass music producer Bradley Drop. His music and DJ sets are a blend of Breaks, Trap, Twerk and Hip-Hop. His first release "The Beat Goes Like This," was released in 2013. Since then Bradley has released several original tracks and remixes, several of them charting #1 in the top 10 breaks Beatport chart. One of those tracks "Music Takes Control" won best track of the year BBS Awards 2017. 

Some of the artists he has remixed for are Agent K, BBK, and The Phat Kidz. Bradley has also collaborated with several great artists such as Si-Dog, J-Double, Proxxy & Lantern, B-Phreak and LoIQ. As well as receiving support from artist/ DJs such as The Crystal Method, Keith MacKenzie, DJ Fixx, Martin Flex, KL2, and Peep This. Bradley Drop has rocked several events and clubs in the U.S. (DC, Baltimore, Seattle, Austin, Miami to name a few) playing alongside artists such as DJ Icey, Keith Mackenzie, DJ Fixx, Deekline, Curtis B, Dustin Hulton, Baby Anne, and many more.

Ask any punter in Perth who Micah is and chances are they were probably rockin’ out to one of his sets last weekend. Micah has earned himself the reputation of one of Perth's leading DJs, through his ability to get even the coldest of feet on the dance floor, his energy and enthusiasm behind the decks and through the burgeoning scene which has grown with him over the last decade.

Discovering a talent for a craft which he has come to live by, Micah embraced the DIY attitude of a young DJ fueled by a burning desire to create and run events where he and his mates could showcase their talents, delivering to a party hungry niche in the market. The early 90's saw Micah putting on small dance parties wherever he could find enough space or a venue that was willing to have him. Micah’s can do attitude saw his parties grow, one such effort culminating in a 2000+ free annual event in the Pine forests north of Perth. From 1997 to the year 2000 these underground parties became the highlight for many a punter, until the authorities stepped in.

Out of the Pines and into clubland, Micah and his mates embarked on a different approach, teaming up with the Awarehouse Crew. This ensemble were responsible for the increasingly popular Autophon nights held at Ambar Niteclub, continuing for good on two years. Whilst running and DJing at these night, Micah gained invaluable knowledge in reading the crowd, learning how to get the dance floor crankin’; and worked on fine tuning his skills and dexterity behind the decks. A relationship built on a solid foundation with Ambar saw him become their number one resident DJ over the ensuing 16 years.

Micah’s popularity with punters has been complemented over the years by his many accolades received, taking out Top Breakbeat DJ in the Perth Dance Music awards for the last 10 years, as well as being voted Western Australia’s number one DJ in the 2007, 08, 09, 10 INTHEMIX Top 50 awards.

Displaying a keen willingness to be an active participant in the community, Micah co-hosts the Beat Suite, a weekly night at the Velvet Lounge showcasing local talent, as well as hosting his own radio show, Monday Full Frequency alongside another WA local, Philly Blunt, on RTR FM 92.1 (3-5pm www.rtrfm.com.au).

Micah’s unabashed enthusiasm, energy and skills behind the decks have seen him become a Perth festival regular playing pretty much every festival that comes through Perth each year. Including over the years: Earthstomp, Global Dance, Sunshine People NYD, Innercity, Good Vibrations, Summerdayze, Two Tribes, Breakfest, Major Break and Parklife. December saw Micah earn himself a highly sought quite a long bio yeah after and well earned late afternoon spot on the seven time award winning Breakfest main stage, alongside the likes of Q-bert, Lee Coombs, Stanton Warriors and the Plump DJs. An opportunity that has breakbeat DJs the world over clambering for.

The last few years have seen Micah play across Australia and New Zealand and land in the UK and Europe playing at Fabric Nightclub @ The Plump DJs Headthrash night, Timbuk 2 in Bristol, The White House and Platform 12 at Canvas Nightclub London and at the legendary Supercharged night in Brighton. As well as a show across Europe.
