While pursuing a career in academia Phil also continues his career in music. He first started to learn the piano at the age of five and at ten began playing the piano accordion. At thirteen he started to learn the guitar. He has played keyboards, guitar and accordion professionally for many years. Phil also writes and records his own songs that have been played by bands in the UK. He is influenced by Ronnie Lane (Small faces/ Slim chance), Eagles, Van Morrison, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackberry Smoke.

2010. Produced and recorded by Denis Gajetic. Folk Pop with influences in Country, Blues and Alternative music. They're mostly autobiographical, though I do sometimes add some fiction to give the songs more drama. The lyrics usually come first. I like the meaning and the emotion of the words to direct the melody. 
My music has been featured in TV shows in America. Radio plays in Wales, Scotland and Ireland. I continue to write new music.

I retired my country band Native Tongue some time ago, I now play summers at a Jamboree, volunteer music, have jam sessions, and visit Mountain Grove on occasion. I decided to record some of my favorite classic country songs.  My maiden name is Barbara Gustin for family reasons, so,no, I am not 2 people . Songwriting is engaging, enlightening and empowering to Per Ploug. In 2018 he began to express himself in song and lyrics, with themes both personal and universal and drawing on life's many experiences... folk is his main genre. A song is the sum of all its parts, the lyrics, the melody, the orchestration and production, and when those parts all gel together you may well have the basis of a great song.

Per draws inspiration from a great variety of both classic and contemporary songwriters and bands from both sides of the Atlantic, such as Gordon Lightfoot, Tracy Chapman, Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Robert Vincent, local heroes include Christy Moore, Emma Langford and Glen Hansard to name a few . Per is originally from Denmark, living in Ireland for over 25 years.

In February 2021 Per found courage to get one of his self-penned songs produced. With the help of Eoin Mulcahy, a part-time music producer, they produced his first ever single Won't Be Lost With You. Hope you will keep an eye out and look forward to hearing what will come next.

Per's biggest dream is to have one of his songs discovered and performed by a well known artist, or to be chosen for sync in a popular TV show or movie.

Round the Globe is a collaboration of music with lyrics written by Clare Steffen, and songs written with the intention to promote, hope, love, and encourage.  The impetus is World Music with an emphasis on Indie/Urban Folk, Americana, Celtic, and Indie/Uban Folk

I'm very grateful to be part of this talented and supportive Soundcloud community.  I try to write songs in a wide range of styles, including r&b, funk rock, folk, jazz, soul, alt-country, and classic rock.   My songs are written, recorded, and produced entirely by me, with the exception that my wife Joslyn provides backing vocals on a couple tracks.  I've also got some covers here just for fun.
