This song was originally written as an acoustic track with just piano and vocals, and has been through multiple levels of feedback to reach its current stage. I have tried to approach overcoming isolation and depression in a way that is generally relatable, and to build to an optimistic conclusion. It's in Db Major, which is the musical equivalent of someone putting on a happy face.

(Please excuse any fragmented phrases or misspellings in this description--I am currently hopped on goofballs...because I have a dental appointment today and I'm dentalphobic.  Who knows what I'll find later when my head clears and I read what I've tried to write, right now.)  

"BEHOLD!!!"

You wouldn't think so just from listening to this track--but this track was inspired by hearing an LCD Soundsystem track I hadn't heard before (on SiriusXMU).  The result was this--the name being a cheeky play on the band's name is really the only touchstone that links this song to them.  In the end, as always, what I ended up making was...more Interbay.) 

This is a bass-first post-punk rock song...until more and more elements of electronic dance music begin to fill in all of the gaps, but keeping that slightly fuzzy bass guitar front and center.  

Occasionally, you'll hear some wild powerchords that have been processed into noise.  Occasionally, you'll hear how obnoxiously loud I've mixed the hi-hats.  
Occasionally, you'll hear narration educating you on what a light emitting diode is...  

(Did you know that it took an awful long time to develop a blue light emitting diode--so much that some scientists and electric engineers thought it might be impossible to dao.  I learned that from making the song.)  

Up tempo, danceable, occasionally with a sharp edge to it--this is what ALL Interbay songs long to be...only that THIS one got there!

I Advise You Not To Touch Me

I do love it when your brain just locks into an idea and it feels effortless to create something.  

I also like it when MY brain does that, too!  And that's what happened with "Quibble"--the latest Interbay track to drop exclusively here on SoundCloud.    

At 114bpm, it grooves instead of sprints.  The palette of sound colors is limited to just a few and the grind of repetition is a feature on this track, not a bug.  There is progression and there is acceleration, as the energy level of the song does built throughout the tracks length.  

And the lyrics construct a narrative that is about storytelling techniques and escaping a seemingly inevitable fate--"the magic of quibbles."  That sure feels like a worthy topic to make an Interbay song about!  

Is there at least a little bit of Rufus Du Sol influence here?  I think so.  Your mileage may vary, of course.  

"Keep your eyes out for those sly quibbles."  

Heading into the weekend, this slightly dark but still worthy of an enthusiastic dance track feels perfectly timed.  Hopefully you'll give this one a listen, a like, a repost and share.  Add it to a groovy dance playlist.  Leave a comment.
