"Let's kick out the Ohms!"  

Do you know someone claiming to be a victim of the science age?  Are you hearing that the one singular person that seems to be in complete control of the paths of travel at night is bragging about their complete control?  

When will your line be crossed?  When will you be called to action?  When will YOU resist?  

That seems to be the narrative of this latest Interbay track to drop here on SoundCloud, and somehow we also get some guitar scratching, some electrical theory, someone's whistle tone voice, and lots of crunchy instrument sounds--synths, synth bass, electric bass, chimey synths, live drums, drum machines, stray percussion sounds, feedback, bent circuits...it's a real smorgasbord of individual elements.  

I would call this synthpunk--if that's a thing (I think it IS.)  The bpm on this track is 238!!!  (Though, there are some elements that are playing in half-time, a more reasonable 119bpm.  

Now, let me clear up the central conceit of the lyrics.  Georg Simon Ohm was not a revolutionary, except in the world of experimental physics.  He had intended to be a mathematician, but to improve his career prospects, he agreed to teach physics at a college with a well appointed physics department.  He began to experiment on the electrochemical cell invented by Allesandro Volta.  Ohm discovered that there is a precise mathematical formula for the relationship between voltage (measured in volts, both named for Volta), current (measured in amperes, or amps, named for Andre-Marie Ampere) and resistance (measured in Ohms.)  

So, when I say that Ohms are the measurement for resistance--I'm not saying that would be how you would measure the students at the barricades or the former Rebel/New Republic forces that challenge the First Order.  But, perhaps it could?  (Or, perhaps it is just one of the many quirks of English that the same word can mean very different things, and you just have to understand the context to understand the meaning.)    

For many of us, these are rather scary times--something that modern generations of Americans are not used to...and I'm not certain that we're handling it very well.  This track is not a call to arms, but in the tradition of the emergence of English punk, only with synthesizers, perhaps it cam be our version of what Johnny Rotten said on the So It Goes program on Grenada TV when the Sex Pistols performed "Anarchy in the UK" in 1976, and when he demanded that we "get off our ass!"    

Perhaps.
