"I wonder if you were dreaming.  If you were, what were you dreaming?"  

There is something so compelling, especially for someone with neurodivergence (like myself), to craft something from bits and bobs...to throw a bunch of ingredients into a stew--ingredients that no one other than you would ever think of blending together...and coming up with something that is both tasty and individual at the same time.  

At the risk of endangering Icarus (more than usual), today's track blends something off of an abbut you may have purchased from the wrecka stow, with some Rolling Rock loving and surprisingly diminuitive post-punkers from the 80s who should have been much bigger (and who I got to interview and hang out with in the VIP section of First Avenue one evening, when we made fun of Gene Loves Jezebel's blouses.)  

Why those two completely unrelated pop cultural connections?  Because both, memorably, were tools for a younger version of me to have attempted to woo the crushworthy off of their feet.  Because both include a similar and distinctive lyric.  Because throwing all of your wet clothes into a dryer and watching the colors spin 'round and round is an apt description of my brain at all times.  

Taking some soulful guitars and glitching them around, adding some dreamy synth pads and some vinyl crackles--not to mention a robot--(whoops, I just mentioned a robot!)--and you get this bizarre but pleasant little slab of pop cheese that might never be anyone's favorite Interbay tracksd, but might be one of the more listenable ones.  

It's pop.  It's indie.  It's...Interbay.    

(...and the thumbnail image is from the very first ever piece of MST3K I ever got to enjoy--thanks to my brother for circulating the tapes so I could become as big of a fan as I remain to this day.  A short film about driver's safety becomes an existential crisis about one robot's worthiness--and it contains so many phrases that made their way into my vocabulary, as well as the vocabulary of people I knew then, people I knew later, and people I know now.  If you haven't watched any MST3K--how did you manage that?--I would strongly recommend starting with the "X Marks The Spot" short...and if you like it, you'll like more.  

Kind of like Interbay.  :)  

For four hundred twenty seven straight days, a brand new and never heard before Interbay track is posted here on SoundCloud.  My plan is to continue to do that as long as I can.  Some will be pop (and mutant pop at that!), some will be post-punk/alt rock, some will be electronic dance music...many will be all sorts of genres and influences all tossed into a blender and turned into an Interbay smoothie.
