PETITES CRIMES ET INJUSTICES


This is the result of a collaborative effort between Lukowig, Wypernet, and myself.

Based on an unreleased song from a while ago, I proposed to Wypernet to substitute a midi piano for its signature guitar sound ... which he masterfully tripled by adding great distorted guitar riffs and a spectacular solo.

Finally, Lukowig's deep and powerful voice ended up giving full meaning to the music, since by reinterpreting the reason for his initial creation (Injustice) he contributed all the lyrics, which are authentic poetry, to give it a different approach.

Many thanks to both of you for giving me this opportunity, having enjoyed your professionalism and patience.

Petits Crimes Et Injustices (Wypernet, Lukowig and Midisound)

Long before September 11, 2001, there was a September 11, 1950; the birthdate of my wife Terry.  This song started out as a very personal musical portrait of her.  Debra became interested in the track after I sent it to her for collaborative consideration.  The result is something very special for the both of us and we hope you too.  In my playing, I address the intimate side of the song and day. In Debra's playing, she addresses the now much larger meaning of the day for our nation and the world. Ultimately I think what we are saying is that 9/11 is profoundly personal. Each of us, if were old enough to remember, know where we were, what we were doing the day the attacks occurred. The attacks also shook the world, world markets, world travel, and any and all sense of security.   Profound sorrow was draped over our country and any nation that called us friend.  "Stay With Me" is another way of saying "hold me close", "we need each other", and as the track picture suggests "forget me not".    A big "thank you" to Debra for lavishing her talent on this very personal song.    More of her beautiful music can be heard @debra_buesking.

I'm a huge fan of a lot of movie and television scores for a lot of the content from the 50s and 60s, and have been especially influenced by Bernard Herrmann's work with Hitchcock as well as material like this. Here's my interpretation of Mr. Herrmann's piece for a Twilight Zone episode in 1959. 

Instruments in order of their appearance: Atmospherics, Trombone, Vibes, Ondes Martenot, Trumpet, Piano, Glockenspiel, Harp, Synth, and Organ.

A special tribute to all our furry friends who make our lives so wonderful! 
Here is a bio of each dog, based on the cover art, starting in the upper left corner, in clockwise order:

Ellie is our five year old shihpoo, who is an eight pound bundle of fluff and love.  She likes playing with her ball and her red hedgehog, as well as taking long walks/hikes, especially when it's not too hot and she knows she can "swim" in a stream. Ellie is quite the vocalist, especially when she's excited about something, or feels the need to inform us of impending danger. 

Callahan or Cal, our granddog, is a nine month old, very spirited Bernese Mountain Dog.  He loves sticks, and his toys, and it's very interesting watching him try to figure out the world such as when he decided to bark incessantly at the grill, or when he came to our house the first time and didn't want to come in the door.

Lucky, the one-eyed dachshund, belonging to our friends, was the life of the party and happily partook of anything appetizing within his reach, including a friend's rum and coke!  Lucky hated it when his pawrents (or us when they were out of town) would leave, and would howl mournfully and incessantly when left home alone in his kennel.

Angel, our dear, sweet, shihpoo passed the Rainbow Bridge 3 years ago.  In spite of having numerous health ailments, including diabetes that resulted in cataracts that had to be removed to restore her sight, as well as twice daily insulin shots, she maintained her wonderful disposition and love of taking long walks for her entire 16-plus years with us.

Jax, our pug who crossed the Rainbow Bridge last November, was one of the nicest dogs, but had a few odd habits.  Jax enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, where he would sit staring at the sky for hours looking for airplanes, then madly "chasing" and barking at them when they appeared. The only thing Jax didn't like was the mailboxes; he would bark like crazy every time we drove over to get the mail.

Set back and Let this flow come onto ya ...                                                                        It all began as an impromptu evening visit and morphed into a wonderful evening of musical magic...   
We recorded our Musical Conversations in Tim Elliot's living room with only one middling Microphone an Upright Piano and his Guitar suite, and I'm so glad we did!

Composer/Guitarist @davidjsvensson freely commented, "If the rest of the piece is even close to what the first two minutes were, then this is a masterpiece!!"  

So glad to share the results of this intimate honest and organic Live Jam with you all. I must say that i am looking forward to more such interactions with Tim. And i gotta say, 'Magic is Magic', however much Better one imagines it could have been.  :-D

Like the short lyrics' meaning "love has no hurry", music makes contrasts on rhythms and textures even inside each part: Main theme starts with fast drums on slow melodies & has a DANCEABLE? 2nd part with lead bass guitar; Central theme makes fast tracks become slow to the left channel and vice-versa, progressing to a POST-ROCK? atmosphere. Meanwhile, two lead guitars and echoing voices complete the contrasting piece. I hope to get your feedback !!!

What can I say the rich get richer and the poor they drink more beer. Back in the day (not too long ago) I fell behind on my rent and it took me 3 months to catch-up. This song pretty well puts everything in perspective when the end of the month arrives and The Man wants you to pay your bills.

Aufbruch! Was war, fällt ab. Knöpf’ meinen Kragen auf.
 Zieh’ die Weste aus, an der noch Land hängt. Warte ab.  
Was klammert, saugt, in Zaum hält, bröckelt und springt. 
Mein Schneckenloch, mein Honigfuß, mein Schritt ins Leere  
und endlich Fall, Bruch, Sturz … und Landen!

Departure. What was, falls off. Unbutton my collar.
Take off the vest with land still hanging on it. Wait.
What clings, sucks, bridles, (now) crumbles and cracks.
My snail hole, my honey foot, my step into the void …

Bio
In 2007 at age 63 Montrealer Peter Wheeler bought his first guitar. He then went to amazon.com and purchased a book called “How To Play The Guitar for Dummies”. Since then he hasn’t looked back. 

Sometimes serious - sometimes humorous Wheeler’s music seeks to re-capture the Classic Vibes  from the 70’s & 80’s. To best describe his music imagine Bob Dylan & The Doors meet The Clash & Leonard Cohen at the Hotel California & share a bottle of wine with Tarantino. Peter Wheeler is a poet - focusing all his energies into creating musical canvases to express his personal vision of the world surrounding him. 

For several years Peter was part of the local bar scene in the Greater Montreal area.  He performed as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for The Rock Roulette Band. His experiences giving live performances and continually improving his guitar playing has truly shown that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
