From 2009 on, Rampa made a name of himself through Keinemusik, his own little d.i.y.-cosmos, being not only label, but also crew of likeminded DJs, producers and friends. The teamwork within this realm has seen a serious number of productions and collaborations, particularly with fellow producer &ME, not to forget the rest of the bunch, Adam Port, Reznik and Monja. 

Besides, he’s got an array of other collaborations and releases under his belt, put out on imprints like Circoloco, Innervisions, Diynamic, Afterlife, Cocoon, Ninja Tunes / Counter Records, Strictly Rhythm, Kompakt, 2020 Vision, Freerange, Bpitch Control, Defected or Crosstown Rebels.

The events of the last few years have seen Rampa focussing more and more on the production side of things, be it studio time or the inauguration of the TEILE project – his own company to produce and distribute analogue effects, custom built for DJ-purposes. Certainly also an outlet for a slight nerdism, that includes not only studio gear, but instruments in general. When it comes to DJing itself, he is going for a less is more approach these days, choosing bookings and playing more consciously.

Keinemusik is a network with the label as the pulse pumping centre. Driven particularly by the spirit that moves the collective behind the imprint. The spirit to find your own agenda and let nobody get in the way. The spirit of refining House and Techno off the beaten path. Be it within their own tracks, within productions of other sorts or DJ-sets. The spirit of recall value within record- and flyer-artworks and everything intermediate in word and image surrounding releases and parties. And the spirit of diversification – Rampa’s effect-gadget-venture TEILE being one example. Keinemusik’s own booking department ‘Worldwide Dancing Club’, established in 2018, being another.

Keinemusik has been around since 2009. It has been naming an existing friendship and linked interests of the four members – &ME, Adam Port, Rampa and Reznik. A more or less constant count of five releases per year have been released ever since, solely laid down by members of the crew. And a considerable count of label-parties went down, not only in Berlin, but around all international focal points for electronic music. And surely, there’s plenty more where those came from. Herzlich Willkommen im Roxy in Köln!!!  

Das Roxy ist der Kultladen in Köln und legt seinen Fokus auf sämtliche Spielarten guter Musik. Brazil, Soul, Funk, Disco, Jazz, Reggae und House werden vorwiegend von Vinyl gespielt.

 Donnerstags gibt es Live Jazz von und mit Professor Burgwinkel, Silvio Morger und Oliver Lutz. Am Wochenende legen meist lokale und internationale DJs auf oder Künstler spielen live bzw. Bands treten auf. Von der Afroband aus Ghana bis zum DJ aus Detroit ist alles vertreten.

 Damit die Gäste und die Künstler voll auf ihre Kosten kommen, wurde sehr viel Herzblut in die Soundqualität gesteckt. Es wurde ein hochwertiges Soundsystem von Martin Audio verbaut, ein Eichendielenboden verlegt und der gesamte Raum schalloptimiert.

Das Publikum ist bunt gemischt, tolerant und vor allem musikbegeistert, was die Partys immer sehr speziell und einzigartig macht.

Geschichte:

Das Roxy öffnete 1974 erstmals auf der Maastrichter Str. in Köln seine Pforten. Zu dieser Zeit war es noch mehr Künstlerkneipe als Club. Musiker wie Arno Steffen, Wolfgang Niedecken oder Jürgen Zeltinger waren damals oft hier anzutreffen bzw. nutzten die Räumlichkeiten auch für ihre Aufnahmen.

1983 erfolgte dann der Umzug an die Aachener Straße 2 – das alte Roxy war zu klein geworden, zudem lag es an einer eigentlich ruhigen Straße, und die Nachbarn waren nicht immer begeistert vom Kneipenbetrieb. Horst Leichenich, der Gründer des Roxys handhabte die Öffnungszeiten am neuen Standort – trotz anfangs noch existierender Sperrstunde – locker: Wenn der letzte Gast weg ist, wird zugemacht. Insbesondere Nachtschwärmer fanden daher in dem Club immer eine Anlaufstelle – ein weiterer Beitrag zum Kultstatus, denn hier mischten sich so Leute aus den verschiedensten Schichten und Berufen. Die Leuchtreklame bzw. das Logo stammt von einem alten Kino in der Südstadt, welches damals geschlossen wurde. Horst Leichenich tauschte das Schild gegen 2 Kisten Kölsch ein. In den 80er Jahren wurde das Roxy vor allem von Diplomaten aus der Bundeshauptstadt Bonn aufgesucht. In den letzten Jahren wurde es dann ein wenig ruhiger bis es 2012 von Tobias Becker übernommen wurde. Seitdem ist es wieder fester Bestandteil des Nachtlebens von Köln und hat sich auch gerade international einen Namen gemacht. Franzosen, Belgier und vor allem Niederländer besuchen das Roxy wenn Künstler wie Moodymann, Boy George, Ron Trent oder Ebo Taylor auftreten.

When one could assume, &ME entered the House and Techno world somewhat out of the blue, it is due to his sublime modesty that’s already captured in his alias. His way to become one of today’s most praised and sought after DJ/producers is based on a solid foundation. A foundation comprised of solo-releases, remixes, projects and collaborations that numerous, we’d rather refer to his discography than weary you with namedropping. Besides, all those references would just distract from what truly matters – the music this guy is delivering. Not to underestimate the importance of a project such as Terranova for &ME’s current path, but still the alignment has been made – to focus consistently on his solo-work. And it shows.

There are not many artists around turning in such a slew of globally praised floormaterial like &ME did over the last years. Just think of his last offerings on Keinemusik, a collective of Berlin based DJs and producers, including Rampa, Adam Port, Reznik & artist Monja Gentschow, he helped founding in 2009, namely “After Dark” and “Woods” or his “Vermillion”-remix for Damian Lazarus – all serious bangers, played by every renowned DJ worldwide. Everything is falling into place for the fella. His DIY-approach to handle things, his easy going attitude, his reputation as a gifted producer and DJ extraordinaire, his ability to link innovative production with consensual reception, making him one of the most unique and original figures in the game.
