Often spotted about town, it’s no secret that JCow is diligently, quietly (and not so quietly) crafting big tunes. This release is the sound of that inevitable 2020’s shut-in inspiration. Written during those periods, they are finally seeing the light of day.

With focused time in the studio, some serious imagined musical landscapes are the result. Tracks designed for dance-floor breakouts and closed-eye catharsis. We’ve heard these tracks come a long way from inception. Cerebral and kinetic, each track has a unique character, functional yet bound to stand out in any set.

Tracks like ‘a complex range of human emojis’ pay-no-mind in referencing the past with a sly smirk and an updated twist, while the title track ‘in my elem3nt7’ conjures up a certain mystical environment - The tracks bold narrative shift midway is a notable payoff. Swerving boldly into new territory, the percussive motifs fade and return from new angles, sounds cutting and slicing through the speaker like angelic machine gun fire. The drum programming is truly used like a weapon on this one, with those majestic horn samples like calls from the ether.

Exaels ‘swampbuggy’ reworking of title track on the B2 provides the perfect alternate universe, working its way from a sparse ambience into an inspired IDM-leaning breakbeat epilogue.

PREMIERE: Jcow - In My Elem3nt7 (exael's Swampbuggy Remix)[Potatoheadz Records]

Putting a pigeon amongst the cats we are back with that good shit. An out of step, incidental artefact of peaceful sophistry: YS - Brutal Flower (2 x “12 LP). A no airs and graces piece of cool future-proof ambience. A modern ballad for brave young clubbers, local pubbers, slipstream warriors, and emotional doggers. 

The distinctive aesthetic hallmarks of YS are all here: slabs of urban flavor from emotional interior; raw data straight from the interface. Both hopeful and mourning: this is the lay of the land in Brutal Flowers. It feels young in an ancient sort of way: pure as first snow. Unfolding with the patience, tranquility and the expansive poise of a work that is for now and always. Pulsating and gently to assured - a flickering skyline, swarming with warm memories. 

An aesthetic reflection of a creative process that is delicate and restless. Created in the edges, where long distances, fast cities and global melancholia are wrought large. Burning the midnight oil Berlin-Singapore style: from real to reel. A sentimental exercise of modern faith by old friends. With a nudge and a wink, Brutal Flowers is a (de)coded map of memories wavering with familiar intrigue. Patient listeners and the already initiated will be rewarded on revists - as playful & profound as you please, as deep as the heart. 

The scathe that cuts is clean and deep. There are no sleight of hands to be found in this opus, only hearts are worn on the sleeve here. 

If this is the final dance music boss, then so be it.

Don’t really know what to say about this one fr fr, but maybe I do have something to say. Always wanted to see Glu go off tits in front of a real live audience and finally it happened. This was to be realized ever since seeing him repeatedly and obnoxiously dropping wonderwall into a rogue set at the infamous 'brucensauna' kick-ons (if you know, u know) much to the dismay of the DJs in the room. Looks of both horror and awe filled the room and I myself took delight upon dat. Glu World Order! It was funny as fuck seeing Glu with his signature double plats channeling Pippi Long Stockings and his stupid Paul Van Dyke "I <3 NY" t-shirt, deploying funk bomb after bomb, after building some tension through stripped back dubby-tech-rollers at the beginning of the set, Glu showed his hand & got the place was jumpin’ jumpin' and I’m kinda still recovering from all that noise. “Somebody call the doctor, cos it's sick cunce” Glu Quote

Honoured to present one of the strongest, narratively driven mixes to date! This time from the wonderfully intriguing world of Aleksa Alaska who hosts “an imaginary radio show.. as a cure for boredom” from her home in Romania. We cannot say in words how delighted we were to stumbled upon her transmissions in the ether.

In her own words “my mixes play at calmness and displeasure and elation and reluctance and nothingness, and all the many variations in between. And through this process i’ve come to find a lot. A lot of useless bullshit too. A lot of adolescent memories. A lot of fears and passions. A lot of things, states, qualities, and emotions. But when you identify something, you’re no longer able to be it, for you’ve separated yourself from it by the knowledge you have of it. It’s not sad. It’s not pessimistic. It’s strange and it’s odd. This rasping feeling of excitement mixed with love mixed with apathy mixed with everything, all at once, perpetually"
