The Mancunian band known as Prose drew a broad variety of comparisons in their early press coverage. They were described as a combination of down to earth U.K. hip-hop, similar to the streets or Plan B, and a touch of melodic lad rock that took its cues from fellow Mancunians Oasis. Their lyrical approach was inspired by life experiences often covering very personal subjects.



In 2014, Prose released their debut EP ‘What if’ under Virgin Records, as they had established a relationship with Artist & Producer Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande. Emeli features on their EP track ‘Headsick’. Fan favourite ‘Run with Faith’ gained their first major Radio plays with features on BBC Radio 1 and XFM, with Nick Grimshaw & John Kennedy making it track of the week.  



2016 brought the release of Prose’s debut Album ‘Home of the Brave’ again under Virgin Records, which saw the release of singles “Home of the Brave’ and ‘Further’. These singles generated Radio plays with the majors, as the latter was again featured as Track of the Week. These 3 single releases also captured the ears of the TV world as they were featured on BBC 2 FA Cup, ITV England game & BT Sports Champions League coverage.



Most recently Prose have released their single ‘A City United’, featuring Manchester Survivors Choir, in May 2018 in remeberance, dedication and to raise funds for the  those affected by the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.



With an ever-growing live audience, Prose have virtually played all over the UK, from Brighton to Glasgow, and Belfast to Norwich with Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and home-town Manchester squeezed in, Their energy and honesty on stage has now taken them to Europe with shows in Berlin & Hamburg in Aug 2018.



Their Festival presence has seen them perform on the main stages at Parklife, Y Not Festival and Barn of the Farm, with Kendal Calling and Reading & Leeds being other great highlights of the band. Tours with The Enemy and JP Cooper, separately, have given Prose the consistency and level that they continue to grow to this day. 



An exciting and new relationship with Manchester Orchestra ‘Manchester Camerata’ (who opened Glastonbury with their ‘Hacienda Classics’ set) has been established, which began with Prose, and a string quartet from the Camerata, selling out Band on the Wall in Manchester. This was followed with the recording of Prose’s next-to-be-released EP ‘Empty Hands’ in which first single ‘See Me Like This’ comes out Nov 9th in conjunction with another sold out intimate show in Manchester at Jimmy’s Nov 10th. 



2019 will see Prose propel themselves with more new music releases and tours to be announced for Spring and Autumn. The will be headed by the next step in their relationship with Manchester Camerata with a Headline show featuring 10  players and Prose at Manchester Academy 2 on March 23rd 2019.
