Twitch was originally a trio for Flute, Clarinet, and Bassoon before the addition of the strings and marimba. It was premiered in March of 2010 by the University of Iowa Center for New Music, David Gompper conducting. 

Twitch was awarded a 2011 Excellence in Composition award by the National Academy of Music.

Adios Nonino - Ástor Piazzolla

An electric guitar rendition of "Fumeux fum par fumee," one of music history's most bizarre compositions. The score, preserved in the Codex Chantilly (pictured), is credited to someone named Solage. The song's cryptic text ("A smoker smokes through smoke") may allude to an artsy-fartsy smoking cult. (And since this was pre-Columbus, they would have been smoking hash or opium, not tobacco.)

When you hear the music, you'll call "bullshit!" And I won't blame you for suspecting I'm trying to pull another musical hoax like clubbo.com. But please, Google a bit, and you'll discover that (aside from my decision to perform the piece by overdrubbing three tracks of Fender Bass VI baritone guitar) this is an authentic 14th-century freakout.

Meeting at the crossroads of Jazz and chamber music, David Dvorin (archtop guitar) and Matej Seda (violin) of Pull-string Duo create intimate and involving ensemble performances of original compositions. Truly un-classifiable, the group strives to synthesize seemingly disparate musical elements with such diverse influences as 17th century viol music, modern jazz, rustic blues, American and European folk music, and avant-garde chamber music.
