Process notes

On 02 Aug, I recorded Polysynth in Bitwig for 20 minutes after building an interesting modulation system. 

In the very early hours of 03 Aug, I recorded a Eurorack modular performance for 14 minutes.

This piece uses short sections of both along as re-imagined in Ableton Live. 

Tools used - Bitwig, Bitwig Polysynth, Eurorack modules (Nonlinear Circuits Dos Osc, O_c, Temps Utiles, Braids, Behringer Abacus & Neutron), Zoom H6, Ableton Live & native devices.

This original version of "This Body Is Not Dry" was submitted as part of Naviar Haiku 552, Stretching Ahead.

A wandering poet and ascetic Zen priest, Santōka was a disciple of Ogiwara Seisensui, one of the first poets to discard the traditional use of the 5-7-5 structure in haiku.

Santōka’s poetry emphasizes the necessity of *sabi* (solitude) in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

Created some loops and played them through a bone conduction speaker. Then used the speaker as a vibration tool to resonate a plastic bottle that had once contained sparkling spring water. It was recorded it using a contact mic over the mouth of the bottle. Moving the speaker about by hand changes how it resonates, less pressure on the speaker will make it vibrate and buzz. Some EQing, but no further effects added.

Wenn der Vollmond der Nacht sein Licht schenkt, erstrahlen die Auen, Seen, Berge, Täler und Wälder in einem zauberhaften Nachtschimmer.
Diese sphärisch und poetische Stimmung habe ich versucht in dieser Komposition auszudrücken.

"Night shimmer" - (October 27th, 2024)

When the full moon gives its light to the night, the meadows, lakes, mountains, valleys and forests shine in a magical night shimmer.

I tried to express this spherical and poetic mood in this composition.
