Dreadsquad - Poland's staple Reggae Dancehall export


The Dreadsquad project has put Poland on the map for creating dancefloor friendly riddim and bassline madness. From the Superfly Studio in Lodz comes tune after tune combining Jamaican sounds of of Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Ska and Rocksteady with the modern sounds of Breakbeat, Jungle, Dubstep and Garage.


Dreadsquad was launched during 2001 and what followed was a flurry of mashups, remixes and Polish Sound Clash victories which gave confidence to turn a passion into a way of life for the man at the controls, Marek Bogdanski. Hundreds of gigs in Poland turned into European tours and now Dreadsquad has toured as far as the USA, Canada, Brazil & India.


Always in demand, Dreadsquad has worked with plenty of top Jamaican and European artists including Ward 21, Tenor Fly, Top Cat, General Levy, U Brown, Milion Stylez, Lady Chann, Tipa Irie, Jah Mason, Perfect Giddimani, Dr Ring Ding…the list goes on.


So far Dreadsquad has released 4 mixtapes, 4 full-length producer albums and a host of vinyl and digital singles which made it into the top of the best DJ shops in Europe and into the playlists of the premier DJs of the world.

The Dreadsquad sound is a worldwide sound taking influence and inspiration from all walks of life. It is glued together by Jamaican Soundsystem culture and modern Bass music culture and is a force to be reckoned with.

Hailing from Singapore, JPS move to Melbourne in 1999 opened up the world of Drum n Bass to him. Launching the successful Bassix, local parties with Blanco allowed him his first taste of promoting and secured his place as one of Melbourne’s most respected DJs. This led on to the establishment of Elementz, with Blanco and DJ Fletch, which is now one of Australia’s most successful DnB events teams. Elementz Sound Collective has been described many times as Australia's foremost drum n bass promotions group. One only has to look back through the countless high quality events represented in Australia by Elementz throughout the years to acknowledge that this title is entirely deserving. Representing and touring international DnB artists and in the process making many important contacts Elementz has established itself as the primary Australian touring agent whilst working with overseas artist managements for the likes of Goldie, Suv, Teebee, Roni Size, J Majik, Noisia , Klute, Total Science, DJ Cash Money and many more.
 
 JPS loves digging in his collection to present a multi Genred Mash-up of hip hop, funk, soul, future beats, Salsa, Samba, dancehall, DnB, Reggae or basically whatever else comes to mind. In recent times he has also started exploring production by means of collaborations with Kiat, Johnny Hooves and Motive, proving successful and leading to being signed to OBSEsessions and Qilin as well as receiving play by the likes of Concord Dawn, Asides, Kiat, Flying Lotus and more. JPS current focus (as well as playing weekly and promoting international parties) is on his management group, The Operatives, an agency that focuses on artists in the Asia Pacific and aims to raise the profile of local artists throughout the world. JPS now manages some of the Melbourne DnB talent and looks after NZ superstars Concord Dawn, Klute, Opiuo, Dizz1, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer for Australiasia. 

The Operatives have strived to achieve the most forward thinking individuals in this arena of music. Having already hosted numerous DnB tours including the likes of Goldie, Concord Dawn, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott and many more. Over the last few years, the Operatives has hosted a range of events including a vast array of artists including DJ Craze, Gilles Peterson, Platinum Pied Pipers, Recloose, The Nextmen, Mark de Clive Lowe, Freddie Cruger, Aloe Blacc, Jazzanova, Maurice Fulton, Theo Parish, DJ Marky, The Mixologists, Hudson Mohawke as well as run the Australian tours for Gaslamp Killer, and  Flying Lotus. He was also the chief booker for Redbull Music Academy 2006 in Melbourne.
 
Having played to packed crowds in Singapore, Australia, UK and the US as well as supporting the top internationals on the touring circuit including Goldie, Mark Rae, Ursurla Rucker, Krust, Die, Roni Size, Patife, Total Science, Klute, Zinc, BSE, Ben Mono, Marcus Intalex, Suv, Bad Company, Friction, Ray Keith, Trace, Moving Fusion, SS, Kila Kela, Pendulum, Bryan Gee, The Mixologists, Andy C, Subfocus, Mampi Swift, Doc Scott, Bryan G, C4C and Kiwi boyz Upbeats, Shapeshifter Sound System and Concord Dawn as well as local heros Pendulum and many more, this dub styled warrior always keeps it fresh and running.
