Grande in two swirly appearances amidst a crever of terror àla TNG's Riker MANeuver puppet master, Jon Frakes. UpMS Flight 04 (pay my bill)

In 1970s Burma, a quietly innovative music scene emerged during a time of increasing political isolation and state censorship. Despite limitations, local artists found creative freedom through cassette culture, using tape as a tool to explore and share a rich blend of sounds—traditional Burmese melodies interwoven with the influences of Western rock, soul, and psychedelic music. Many musicians engaged in copy thachin, adapting foreign songs with new Burmese lyrics, creating something both familiar and entirely their own. My Final Answer to Life, compiled by Gary Sullivan (Bodega Pop) for Radio Is a Foreign Country, offers a glimpse into this era through a selection of tracks from 1970 to 1978—music that reflects a culture in motion, reshaping outside influences into something deeply personal and resonant. @docsleep cut her chops as a DJ in San Francisco’s vibrant scene the past decade, before making the move to Berlin and becoming a resident of Room 4 Resistance. Since 2013, she's co-owned Jacktone Records, specializing in techno, ambient, and experimental electronics. In 2018, Fact Mag named Jacktone one of the 10 best labels of the year. Doc broadcast on cult favorite, Intergalactic FM, for several years and in 2016/2017 released her first EP's, including with Hot Mass Detour Records. She's contributed solo and collaborative tracks and remixes to Dark Entries, 100% Silk, Run the Length, Discwoman/Allergy Season, Twirl and Tribal, to name a few. She's DJ'd throughout North America and Europe, including Panorama Bar, Saule and Tresor, De School, Under Bron, La Machine du Moulin Rouge, Et Andet Sted, Kaiku and Aaniwalli. Her next EP's will be released on Jacktone February 2019 and Dark Entries in April 2019.

ORAMICS 052: Doc Sleep

Emji Saint Spero is a writer, performer, and pervert living in Los Angeles. Their practice a series of approaches. Through collaborative performance, somatic ritual, found language, and personal ephemera, they seek to queer the familiar, mapping the boundaries of collective engagement. Saint Spero is the Programming Director at Poetic Research Bureau, the Curator of Communicator Series, a language-curious queer and trans* performance series, and the Co-founder of the Oakland-based small press and queer poetry cult Timeless, Infinite Light, with Joel Gregory. They are the author of disgust and almost any shit will do, and are currently working on two manuscripts: Exhaustion and A Retching.
