Puerto Rico Relief - Various Artists

20 artists join in to aid in the reconstruction effort after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in conjunction with the charity "Friends of Puerto Rico”. 

All proceeds go directly to Friends of Puerto Rico, they bridge between education and cultural communities in Puerto Rico and its diaspora and are actively raising funds that invest in communities that support educational, cultural and development programs in Puerto Rico. As part of the organisation’s commitment, 100% of the donations received for the Hurricane Maria Recovery Fund will be to invest to rebuild Puerto Rico through the thirteen centres managed by the Boys & Girls Clubs in Puerto Rico. 

Thank you to the contributing artists who kindly gave up their time and talent to support this humanitarian cause and a big thank you to Angelique Sina from FoPR for working with us to get this over the finishing line.

Fragments is a collection of reworked & remastered tracks & live recordings which were composed in 2015.
Each piece was originally created as part of a soundtrack for "Some Thoughts On Mercy” an essay written and read by Ross Gay, part of “Bringing Down the New Jim Crow” a radio documentary series by Chris Moore-Backman.
I have spent time reworking & remixing each section composed for the soundtrack as well as several alternative tracks that were created at the same time. The end result is a 10 track release which captures the atmosphere & inspiration in a new form.

When The Night Falls

This month’s guest mix in Sofa Beats series was recorded by AYO.

AYO’s sound is taking you on a journey into a world of dreamy soundscapes, drone subs, small creaky details, long evolving pads and slow beats. Through scandinavian forests, white mountains and northern lights into a world where we communicate and connect without words.
By sampling sitars-violins-cellos, modulating FM synths, incorporating field recordings and playing around with raw data and noise, AYO attempts to create a timeless bubble of calm atmospheric sounds, that gently yet persistently makes ones mind and body drift towards a fundamental earthly connection.
AYO is the solo project of Julie Schønherr Rosengreen. Julie has been playing the violin as a kid both playing classical and a bit of folk music, but also composing her own and playing around with different combinations of melodies. As she grew older she began appreciating electronic music and later on started composing her own tunes.

Not long after she startet producing, she got her first festival gig in Denmark and have since then been active in the Danish chill scene, playing at festivals like Senpati, Sensun, Shiva Spirit and multiple events. Abroad she has played in countries like Nepal, Morocco, Germany, Spain, Lithuania etc. This includes festivals such as Freqs of Nature, Transition festival and Gaia gathering.
Currently she is studying for her bachelor in Sound Design at Sonic College in Denmark. But earlier she has also been doing electronic music and VJ courses at Frontsession in Aarhus and Engelsholm College for Arts and Music.
