One of the themes of my work is “memory.”
Recorded sounds are also memories, and at times these memories become complex, fragmented, and scattered. The intention behind works centered on the theme of memory is to reconnect and reconstruct scattered fragments of memory to create new memories.
This work, “Frozen Memories,” uses sound materials whose origin and recording date are unknown to me. These sound materials were first edited into a completed work, which was then further processed and edited to the point where it no longer resembles its original form, resulting in a new work.
In a sense, this can be described as a chain of memories.

KAZUYA ISHIGAMI (b. 1972, Osaka/JAPAN) is a composer, sound designer, sound performer and sound engineer in the field of Electroacoustic/Acousmatic/Post-Acousmatic/Ambient/Noise, etc. He began playing with the tape recorder and making cut-up and collage works in early childhood.
His pieces have been performed at DR (Deutschland Radio/Germany),WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk/Germany), CCMC (Japan), JSEM (Japan), FUTURA (France), MUSLAB (Mexico), SR (Radio Saarbruecken/Germany), HR (Hessischer Rundfunk/Germany), ISCM (Stuttgart/Germany), Spark (USA), NICOGRAPH (Japan), SILENCE (Italy), VII International FKL-Symposium (Italy), ICMC (2015_USA/TEXAS), Music From Japan 2020 (USA/NY) among others. He has an independent label NEUS-318 and OMODARU, and has released more than 100 works.

American Dark Ambient sound sculptor AJNA returns with his latest full-length work, New Revelations of Being, an eleven-track descent into the abyss of human psyche and metaphysical dread. Following his acclaimed Cyclic Law releases, this new opus draws direct inspiration from the fevered writings of Antonin Artaud’s Artaud 1937 Apocalypse.

With New Revelations of Being, AJNA channels Artaud’s fragmented visions of destruction, renewal, and transcendence through a vast palette of subterranean drones, spectral resonances, and suffocating atmospherics. Each track unfolds like a psychic document, blurring the line between revelation and delirium, guiding the listener into haunted states where words dissolve into vibration and consciousness is unmoored from form.

At once oppressive and illuminating, the album furthers AJNA’s ongoing exploration of the boundaries of perception, death, and rebirth. Dense textures coil and fracture into hidden harmonics, mirroring Artaud’s own descent into madness as a vessel for ecstatic truth.

New Revelations of Being cements AJNA as one of the foremost practitioners of the Dark Ambient tradition, offering not just music but a transformative experience, a ritual in sound that demands surrender.

I have always been almost obsessed with the concept of time. In recent years I am investigating and attending the world of meditation, and – about a year ago – I started to practice it regularly twice a day. While meditating we get into a very different dimension where feeling of time ceases to exit, when we are deeply into meditation we move away from the concept of time… Tracks presented here are not drones in the classical sense, as conceived by La Monte Young as having no beginning and no end, but for me they represent a possible soundtrack to the daily journey from matter to transcendence.
