PREMIERE: Joe Corti - Thinkin' [Better Listen Records]

Having toured Australia for the first time with Clipp.Art in 2017, the Austrian-based DJ and producer was asked if he’d like to try his hand at remixing an upcoming single by SHOUSE (an act he played alongside while in Melbourne). The result is a classic Demuja deep disco house cut with oddles of raw groove built around an already infectiously soul-full vocal.

few days ago, something special happened at the end of a show in France where I was playing b2b with mamene S3A.
the sound engineer, waited for the place to be empty and just played this beautiful track for the staff and the artists packing their stuff and it had a really strong effect on me. something beautiful, out of time, lost in a little snowy village, this song I know since I was a kid sounded different and affected me.
the funniest part of the story is that S3A did a France Gall edit few weeks ago to pay his tribute to this wonderful and talented artist, thanks to him for opening the road.
here it is, only three days after the show cause it feels linked to that moment for ever to me.

Their first release ‘The Four J’s’ features four bumping house tropes from channel regulars https://soundcloud.com/bellairemusic, https://soundcloud.com/subjoi, https://soundcloud.com/gavinco and https://soundcloud.com/jesse-bru. This release represents the achievement of the work done on the channel by releasing four tracks with four differing, infectious vibes.

The A side begins with Bellaire’s ‘Oh’ which is a club driven house track with a catchy loop and sensual vocals built for summer dance floors. We continue the journey with ‘Show Yourself’ by the Australian Subjoi which is a rhythmic and soothing track, punctured by a pulsating sample. A groove that is as introspective as it is joyful.

On the B side, the young English Gavinco delivers a house driven number sprinkled with jazzy notes. Trumpet and piano punctuate the rhythm of the track. We end the trip with the mesmerizing ’Setup’ produced by Jesse Bru. One that exudes a certain melancholy. A hypnotic simplicity that warms the heart.

Today’s premiere comes from the inaugural release on Cardiology, a new sub-label from Burnski and Jon Woodall’s Constant Sound imprint. Having proven his aptitude for quality sampling on his last EP for Roots for Bloom Records, young frenchman Yann Polewka steps up yet again with 4 club-ready cuts of disco-tinged house.

Our pick off the EP is the B2, “Night’s Over Vern”. Right off the bat, that mysterious harp and those crisp cowbells had us hooked, throw in a tight bassline here and some shuffling hi-hats there, and there’s the backbone of any good disco edit. But no good bit of disco is complete without a hefty dose of filtered strings, a low-pass breakdown and groovy vocals for that final drop, all of which Yann has generously provided us with. All in all, it’s safe to say that Yann has the recipe for a perfect disco edit figured out, and tracks like these are a reminder of why nobody can ever get enough of that sweet french touch.

Between us, I might have given this track a round or two on the dance floor already, and believe me it works. No need to take our word though, give this a spin and see if you can stop your head from bobbing. Cardiology 00 comes out on the 28th of January, grab it here.

This 5 tracks drive you amidst winterly feeling. Not saying cold, it is more something very cosy. 

Introducing on the organ-roller 'Niji No Hashikake' is delivered with tons of love and layers-growing-crazy by M.ono. Second named 'Jazz A Night', some carribean jazz bar piano inspiration and a large dose of evolution towards garageable beats from Le Hutin. Third is Carlo man hitting with a smooth groover well balanced between deepness and organic presence coated in charming vocals, 'starting tomorrow'. Forth comes lelù from outer-atlantic for a 90's beat alike, 'Pimp Talk' is just a fine exploration of house referring to hip-hop influences. Last comes Tom Jarmey with a very personnal softener, featuring MarBlu, where vocals and multiple key layers madly melt into each others.

Record store owner, DJ, producer, and digger extraordinaire @tomnoble comes to RNT with a superb edits EP of sought-after Caribbean and African sounds. The A side burns hot right out of the gate with the explosive and percussive Soca-disco pulse of They Came To New York, then settles into the laid back lilt of Zouk Pour Esa. On the flip, Disco Massamba is a wild ride of an Afro-disco burner and Parang-A-Teng brings it back to the Western hemisphere for some Latin-tinged funk from Barbados. Well worth it for the value of the original source material alone, this 12” is nothing short of dance floor destruction!

Sour Edits is rolling into town again for the fourth instalment of what, can only be described as another dose of vibey (yuk) bangers (yuk). Two words perhaps over used, almost platitudes but sum up the tone of just head nodding, foot tapping goodness, which this label embodies so well.. This one is a VA Featuring Salary Boy, Marcin Krupa, Kayroy and RUADH. And we've been lucky enough to feature Salary Boy's 'On the Other Foot'.

Salary Boy seems to incite such an infectious sound, so much so that we find ourselves coming back to tunes from his past, weeks, months or even years later and derive the same joy which was so intoxicating on first listen. Probably why we've managed to get two mixes from him, and some of his prems are always floating round our SC spotlight. If the shoe was on the other foot you'd probably do the same though? Judging by this current output, we'd probably be safe to assume so.
